I think you should turn one of your 3s into an Autocrossing monster. Billy is getting parts together now, like coilovers and all the other shit you'd need to do it. Then drop in a bridgeport motor and tear that shit up man! You'll never be bored again. :)

Find an early 70's Colt and put a rotary in it.
(pics of my dad's old car for inspiration) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...E540/colt1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...E540/colt2.jpg Or if you want to play hard mode, see if you can find a Turbo Colt... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../turbocolt.jpg (I wish he kept these cars, along with the 240Z race car) |
Autocrossing one them RX-3s came to mind but I sold my Suburban and Silverado so I have to wait til I get another truck for towing. Billy is cool. he recently hooked me up with some needle bearings for the RESpeed camber kit since I fucked up one set while swapping suspensions. Both light blue and midnite blue RX-3 are rolling with REspeed front camber kit and the rear disc brake bracket.
Nice colt. I grew up with dodge colts and ford escort back in PI. What I really wanted is a late 60s toyota land crusier but finding one in stock condition is like pullng teeth. My dad had one so it would be nice to relive my younger days LOL. Im currently working on the rotolla so Im coming up with more ideas on how to do it right. It will keep me busy for about a week or so. Then I will just garage all my RX-3s and will concentrate in working in my house (I dont know why I didnt think of that in the first place LOL) |
i'll swing by to pick up the rx3 when busy season ends :)
|
no 12pack of cold heine, gate will be locked.
|
I Can't Believe What I'm Reading!!!
Wacky is tires of RX3's??? No Frikin Way, so are you givin up on Rotary for good or just want to switch body styles??? Sound like your just tired of the body style!!! Well Good Luck with whatever you decide to do bro, with you 110%

not giving up on rotaries, just looking for something more challenging as in rotary transplant or vice versa. after many years of tinkering with old school mazdas, I already know what to expect (not saying Im an expert but one requires a little more rubbing than the other). So Im kinda looking for a different old school project, havent decided as Im taking my time.

I've got an idea Mel. Build a car that's fuel injected. If I remember correctly, you have used carbs on everything. BTW, I just returned home from my 4th trip to the Philippines and I have yet to see an RX over there. You could donate one of your 3's to them. |
I always thought it would be cool to drop a 4 port 13b into a 1st gen Celica. Done right, those babies look like tiny muscle cars. :)
|
time 4 u to retire and work on vw's hahahahah
|
Mel I would say go on a road trip with the son and Rx3. Get outta town and recharge.
You don't need to tow an autocrosser, most people don't. I drive my REPU to the autocrosses just fine. Tow bar is an option too but very few cars ever break there. |
I know what you mean Mel. My 7 will be for sale shortly :(

Don't do it! You just got that sucker looking good. I guarantee you will regret it if you do. I sold my 3 once and have regretted it ever since. I don't plan on selling my 7 for a good 30 years, and even then, hopefully I will have a son to pass it on to......hehe Send me a pm if you decide to sell your wheels seperate, I might have a friend interested. |
I have been letting my son drive me around town/meets but I'm not used to being a backseat driver. It feels weird, picture me talking shiet just like in that video of an aussie dad in his son's drag car. lol

To make room to my new LS1 RX-7 project and a honda CRX drag car, I sold the midnite blue RX-3 last night so its gone. Im going to sell the black 73 RX-3 for $7K so hit me up before it goes to e-gay.
|
Yes, April first gets to us all at some point.
|
don't you mean your dodge neon str0
|
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::icon_tup:
|
thanks Jeff for blowing my april fools joke:lol::lol::lol:
|
You had me going there Wacky!!
|
im not ready to throw in the towel but just need to move on to another project
|
Go back to your old roots- drag car biotch. I may be selling my 12abp so hit me up.
|
you got me too:lol:

At this point, the motor, tranny and radiator are installed. It is rolling on 1st gen front suspension/brakes along with FB brake booster, master cylinder and clutch master + modified 83 brake/clutch pedal assembly. Rear has been converted to FB rear disc brake, e-brake cable is done also. Not much to do except to add oil/coolant, install the e-fan, re-wire the ignition and crimp new ends to battery cable (starter to battery-relocated in trunk). Install front door panels.
Need to paint the wiper cowl and gas door (body shop lost the gas tank door and gave the cowl to me with few scratches). Front and rear bumpers + small piece of back glass chrome piece need to re re-done to match the rest of the chrome pieces. HOWEVER, I CURRENTLY LACK THE MOTIVATION (NOT SURE IF I LOST INTEREST) TO GET IT RUNNING. So if anyone is looking for 73 RX-3 (less motor and tranny), let me know as my wackiness can only happen once every 4 years like February 29th lol. I've invested over $8000 so dont try to low ball me. I'm not desperate to sell or hurting for cash. I'm in Southern Cali, near Dodger Stadium. 213/219-6581. |
Go Dodgers!
|
Time for a rotary sidekick/vitara???
|
maybe I will just start on my other project as in multiple projects at once. its another "smog exempt" old school as I hate dealing with CALI's bi-annual smog test and such :lol:

build a drag car you old fart.
|
Check out the classifieds section on japanesenostalgiccar.com .. you might find an interesting new project there, I have always liked the look of Datsun 510's, but they seem to be getting more and more popular and therefore pricey. The early 70's corollas are pretty cool, especially the thought of one hiding a 13b under the hood.. My fb is in storage for the winter, so all I can think about is getting it out in the spring and driving as much as possible. Since you seem to be grown up with a family, why not take on a bigger car as a project, one that you can cruise in comfort with some grandkids? I'm thinking an old Toyota Crown, or one of those early Subaru vans..

If I were to build another drag car it would be a Starlet or R100. |
Another old school has been resurrected :nod:. I just need to figure out why the contactors on my brand new 40-Amps relays for igntion and start from Summit arent opening when I turn-off the key/no 12-V to ignition.

The ALT is probably keeping the ignition powered after you turn the key off
Looks sexy by the way!!! |
I like the throttle cable you shade tree mechanic.:lol::lol:
