Thinking of selling my RX-3 wagon

Thinking of selling my RX-3 wagon
I have put a lot of time, money and effort in this wagon. I will try to put more pics in my yahoo photo album. But here is a list Of what I did to my 1973 RX-3 wagon.
82 12A engine, 84 nikki carb, headers, presilencer, stock clean rx7 muffler. The wagon is quiet and not annoying. 82 radiator, RX-4 oil cooler, racing clutch, 79 tranny, rebuilt front calipers, new master cylinder, new rear brake shoes, new wheel cylinders, yokohama tires on rx-7 rims. All lights works, all gauges work, but I suspect the temp is not accurate, I am not sure if the 82 sender is compatible with the 73 gauge. I have an electric fan on it. I can drive it locally everyday if I wanted to, but it is hot as hell in Va. I drive it on cooler days, nights, or when all the cars are out of the house.
This is a former TX car.
I replaced the front windshield, no cracks, no bubbling. Had to drive all the way to CT to get it.
I put in a grill, gas tank, GLC seats, back seat, driveshaft. All of these parts weren't there.
What it needs:
Paint
suspension work, you can feel it is 30 plus years old.
interior work like redying, headliner work.
I have the a/c system for the car.
Pics are here under http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/perezj.../ph//my_photos
I believe $3000 is a fair price for it. Can't really go lower. Tell you the truth I rather sell my yellow 79 RX-7 for $3500-$4000 price range than this but I think nobody will give me that.
The most I have driven the wagon is about an hour away. I have driven many 30 to 45 minute trips. I wouldn't drive it too far, unless you get the suspension done (struts, maybe balljoints, etc.)
Any questions you can call at 757-593-5168

How ya doing?? I remember you on Vintage and the other forums. I do have the full set of mats. Maybe we do some horse trading.
Rotorbrain:
That is a nice FD, but I can't afford the money on it. I would probably have to either take over your payments or something to that effect since you say you owe another year on it. Hell, I believe I have enought equity in my garage to back it up. Would mind getting all my years of "rotary collection" out and park a nice FD in the garage and nothing else.

oh man. . . hahaha. that would be ALMOST worthwhile to me. i just couldnt see myself letting my car go for such a little amount of money. . . it would get me out of the mess im currently trying to get out of, but i just cant give myself that type of shaft. hahahaha.
its not that i dont think your car is worth the money. . . i do. . . its just not EXACTLY my cup of tea at the moment. i dont mind the wagon, but i dont LOVE the wagon.
on a side note, i AM okay with screwing myself if the right car comes along. id love a VERY clean rx3/4 coupe. . . one that i wouldnt have to mess with at all. just drive it. . . and drop a 20b in it later on.

Rotorbrain,
I hope you thinkn't think even swap, I know what is your car worth, obviously a lot more than mine, I don't know your balance, equity and so forth. If I had money cash, I could probably work something out.
Hullie,
My mats are not the quality you want for your car, I saw your car pics in one of your earlier posts and I am amazed how nice it is. I had a 4 door RX-2 a few years ago. It was all original but needed work, good thing about it was all gauges work, had factory a/c which worked but was low on freon and it needed some minor bodywork.
I would not recommend these mats to you.

im hoping SOMETHING will work out. im really starting to feel the pressure of losing debt lately.
hullie. . . id say im pretty much done with rx7s for now. . . especially 2nd gens. had my fill. . . nightmares. . . absolute nightmares. . . and a dime a dozen around here lately. another reason to get out of the FD scene. . . to many people are getting them. . . i wouldnt mind having something not so common again. . . like when i FIRST got my FD.

I hear that! I wouldn't either. Some TRIX are for kids, others not. You will get that. I have had my share of lowballs since owning my first RX-7. I love the simplicity of old school. But at the same time, I believe the FD was away ahead of its time. Just the reliability issues that has always worried me. I would hate to spend 8k to 15k on a used car and blow my engine up.
Then again, parts for these RX-3s are getting scarce and expensive, I do have some minor parts that I won't disclose here. But to give you and idea, I have two extra windshields for the RX-3 wagon which I would not sell to nobody. They are mint.
Hopefully we can get rid of the cars soon. My wife is even encouraging me to keep the wagon since she has hated every rotary I have ever owned.
Looks like the yellow 79 will be going to Ebay.

Just a few updates on the wagon:
Fixed the gauge that was reading overheating. It was never overheating. I now know that if you use the factory gauge which in this case is for 1973 model you must use the old style water temp sender. I took the sender off some old 13B plates from a REPU and Voila!!!! It is working.
Installed a RX2 radiator that came off my buddy's car that he is converting to a race car.
Installed a 91 RX7 80 amp alternator. No more dimming issues
Installed a red top optima battery
The best thing I did yesterday was to install an MSD 6A box. Not only that it help me clean some coil wiring issues, it took the stumble I had in the car. I re-timed the car and the car purrs like a kitten. Runs and idles just like a new fuel injected car!!!!!!!!
If I can get this suspension done, I can drive it cross country!

Added a couple more pics to the photo page, a few more wires to go around the alternator area to take off since they are not being used and maybe it will look better. Definitely a lot better from no engine to now.
