Swaping

Hello,

I have a third gen Mustang with a blown 2300... blown as in kaboom, not supercharged i also have a carbed 13b and no trans to go with it

apart from the fab work to make it fit, what am i going to have to do about the transmission, will they bolt up? i heard some rangers with 2.3s have mazda built trannys that are similar to some they put in some rx-7 or.. something lol

so, will they bolt up or will i have to find another rotary trans, make a custom driveshaft and all that jazz

since no one seems to have any experience with this, ill ask another question.

the 13b transmission bolt pattern, what other cars share the same bolt pattern, aka what 4cylinder rwd cars have the same bolt pattern as a 13b, i know people put rotary engines in the MX-5, how much work is this to do? if this would be a more viable option, ill sell the mustang and buy an MX-5 for the swap

if anyone is wondering why i dont just get another rx-7 without an engine, the reason is i want a car with a piston engine.. to have a rotary

Just get an RX-7 tranny. That's far easier than fabbing an adaptor. Also the driveshaft is easier to get custom made than fabbing an adaptor. The adaptor is the hard part, so avoid it if you can. Installing a rotary in a previously piston powered car is priceless.

Save yourself a lot of trouble and just buy my formerly piston powered car:

Seriously though the NA engine will be low on torque for a Mustang body. If you are going to go through the trouble of the swap use a Turbo 13B. I think you will be disappointed in the performance otherwise.
Get an RX7 tranny. A custom driveshaft is not that expensive and a LOT easier than an adapter plate. Kennedy Enginered Products (do a search) makes lots of custom adapter plates and may have something already fabbed up. They might also be able to tell you which transmissions are best for the swap. Their products are top notch. I am using one in my Porsche.

that is a nice Porsche, but i like having my engine up front, where i can keep an eye on it lol and, i want to build it myself

i dont care much for performance on this build, its going to be a gimmick type thing ill drive to car shows and cruise around in on the weekends, if i get a speed bug, i have other outlets

in that respect, i like the idea of a rotary engine in an mx-5 more than a mustang, keeping it in the family and all, and a convertible would be cool, can anyone tell me if a 13b has the same bolt pattern as a 1.8l mx-5? or do i have ti do the driveshaft on this aswell, which isnt really a problem for me, i have done my own driveshafts before on oval track and drag cars
