sa manual into rx4 auto

I have a 75 Rx4 sedan and dispite my wanting to keep it all original it is just too boring to keep the way it is with the automatic. I hear that the SA tranny pretty much fits. I think I still have a flywheel from a 76 4 port 13b motor lying around. I'll need a new clutch. I will also need a pedal cluster. Is it all that hard to make an SA pedal cluster fit? Also... was there any difference between the counter weights between 75 and 76. Like I said I would like to use this fly wheel from the 76 so I need to make sure its going to be the same. Any help would be... well... helpfull lol.

Thanks,
Brian

I know that the pre 80 (I think, manybe 81) gearboxes have a different location of the leaver.
Why don't you try to find pedals from a 929? They should fit.

Im not sure I understand why a 929 pedal cluster would fit? I have a 80 Rx7 cluster. I would think that that would be closer. And you are correct about the 81 and later trannies not fitting as well. the shift levr is further back on those. thats how my 79 is. it has had the shifter hole moved back (hacked open)

the 79-80 trannys have the shifter in the right position for the early rotary cars. i did the mod to an 83 tranny to use in my rx3.

I installed a '79 tranny in my REPU. It was weak so I threw in a '76 5 speed. Much better.

Hmmm Maybe I should just source everything that I need from a junk yard or find a dinosaur parts car.

I got a set of pedals from a mid '80s 626 that I was gonna use when I converted my '74 RX4 to manual transmission. They will work with just a little modification. (The bolt that goes through them is smaller than the RX4, so to do it right you need to drill out the holes on the pedals and use a larger bolt) Anyway, I ended up finding a pedal set from an RX4 wagon in a junkyard for $10 so I ended up not needing them. The ribcase trannies are stronger, but have weak synchros so it's kind of a trade-off there.

The reason a 929 cluster would fit, is that the 929 is the same as the RX4, and uses a lot of the same parts, except for the engine of course... But i think you guys over the pond call the 929 the Luce or something. Magnus is from Sweden so he calls it 929. You guys didnt start to call it 929 before 87 or so, while we have called it the 929 since the 70`s!

If you have a look where the cluster should be, you should find "precuts" of where you would have to mount the pedals
