So, my girlfriend is in love with rotary engines, due to me, of course, but she also loves the late 80's style Porsche 944. What we wanna do is obviously put an S5 13B-T motor into a 944, and have it be her "and by her, I mean my" little race car.

I'm just trying to see if anyone's ever done this swap, or knows an extensive amount of info about 944s, because I'm new to them. Or even, if anyone knows of a site that covers this swap, I'd be much obliged.

Also, opinions and criticizm is appreciated as well. Thanks.

 

That would be a nice project. years ago, I helped out a friend to do a GHIA conversion. The only thing I didnt like about this type of proejct is that the exhaust went to front of car and then back. Other than that, its a cool project.

 

There was a 80's (I think) 911 for sale on ebay once that had a S5 13BT in it. I think it was mostly custom fabricated but it looked pretty sweet... do it!

 

The FC doesn't look enough like a 944 to you as it is?!

 

I think it actually HAS been done before, but the idea still kicks ***!

Hah. Okay, you guys must have missed the point of my post. I'm trying to get info on the swap. Anything that might be an especially big pain in the ***. But yes, I want to do it. It shall be fun.

 

not sure if the 944 engine to tranny pattern is the same as the 911 or not
but this guy bolted the rotary pattern to a 911 box, he can tell you where
to get the adapter if you want to keep the Porsche tranny.

kennedy adapters would also be a source to get your bellhousing adapters

this would be a neet project, if you start it please keep us all updated (not that i have any worry that you wont)

It always makes me laugh when I hear the FC is a 944 clone. If you really take a closer look at Porshe body lines you'll notice the FC has more styling influenced by the Porshe 929.

Not sure how easy that swap will be since the 944 might have a small tranny tunnel because it has that wonderful (sarcasm!) transaxle.
