Question RX4's speed and handleing?

Can anyone give me some first or second hand info, on the RX4's factory speed (like 1/4 miles time), and handleing.

Thanks!

probably about 18 second 1/4 mile, and turns a .65 to .7 on the skidpad. Better wheels and tires and suspension upgrades would improve that.

What would a Rx4 do with a 6-port down the 1/4?

I have the original Car&Driver from March 1974 with the Rx-4 test in it. C&D got 0-60 in 8.9 seconds and the 1/4 in 16.8. These were great numbers in the emissions equipment-choked mid-70's. If you just take the emissions stuff off them and put a nice header on there it drops right into the mid 15s for the 1/4.

The comparisions that C&D made were interesting:

The Rx-4 is about 1.5 seconds faster (in the quarter) than both the Musang II and Toyota Corona, but is cheaper than both those cars. 70-0 braking was on par with the Camaro Z28 at 193 feet (a couple feet more than the Camaro).

btw the price as tested was $4310...base was $4150 + $60 for the radio, $50 for axle locating links, $50 for dealer prep.

"You simply can't buy such a combination of performance and finely culivated manners anywhere else. So the Rx-4 is a benchmark car. Others can exceed it's strengths on certain fronts - fuel economy for example - but as a whole the new Mazda's virtue is well out of reach. We can only pity the competition."

I'm glad I have one...
