RX4 Pedal Question

I am looking to convert my rx4 from automatic to manual. I have not been able to find a pedal assembly for the car and was wondering if I could use an rx2 or rx3 Can I just use the brake and clutch pedal of a 1st gen rx7. Any Ideas would be appreciated.

If you feel like exploring your mechanical and engineering abilities, you can use a pedal assembly from another car.

I converted my automatic Cosmo to manual a little while ago. I fortunately had a complete pedal assembly from a manual Cosmo but had to build the shifter surround. It was great to have the pedal hardware so it all could bolt right in. No surprises.

Cosmo and RX-4 are the same. They have a 'helper spring' like the '84-'85 RX-7. This provides a slightly easier feeling clutch pedal if you prefer heavier than stock pressure plates. Otherwise it allows a stock pressure plate to feel really soft to work more with the luxury car feel Mazda was going for. Either way you win with a helper spring. I wish my '81 RX-7 had a helper spring.

thats a good question: Im not sure if the RX4 & cosmo pedals are the same as the RX-3. If not and you have the ***** to a better upgrade as I've shown you at the last REPU meet, here's the link to my RX-3 brake booster upgrade which I've proven that it will work and will make the car stop ala Winston tire commercial

Thanks for the ideas!
Jeff20B - So are you saying the '84-'85 RX-7 have the same pedals as the RX-4, does that mean I can just add them to my pedal box. Comparing the Automatic and Manual pedal boxes, they are the same except for the brake pedal and addition of the clutch pedal.

Wacky - I think you might have me confused with someone else, I have not made it out to any REPU meets. Your update looks interesting, but I am hoping to keep my current bolt pattern, as I just picked up a set of Epsilon Wheels in the 4x110 pcd.

I found a pedal assembly for an rx2 and am going to see if I can make it work, but am open to any other ideas!

Thanks

No, I didn't say that at all. I said they have a helper spring. You're welcome to try.

There was an asian dude (with people from JJCS) who came up to me with same issue in his auto RX-4 at the last REPU meet I say hell to stock RX booster. They are just too small. Since you're going to take it apart/fabricate, you may as well upgrade to something better.
