Rx4 exhaust

Hello all. I am putting my RX-4 together and need help with the exhaust. I have the racing beat road header and need advice as to what to use for the rest of the exhaust. Is there any exhaust components ie. racing beats center section, that will bolt up and fit into this car. Or will I need custom pipes. Thanks.

Elston

I have a RX4 too running a road race header. All I did was take it to my local muffer shop (BIG ALs) and just had them run a custom 2 1/2" exhaust . I put a Magnaflow muffer at the end. Cost less then $300 and sounds great. Really depends on the engine work too and what sound you're looking for. As far as I know, no makes an exhaust "made to fit" the RX4.

I have the collected RB header going into a full-length RB presilencer coupled to the stock pipe and muffler. It works great, is not too loud and all that was required was to weld one flange on the stock pipe and one little bend.

I have something similar done to my Rx4. I have one of the shorter RB headers. After that I weleded a flange onto a cat. I have two glass packs after that. I used a stock Rx7 pipe to go ovet the rear axle and a stock Rx7 muffler. Its nice and quiet, just like a family sedan should be , and it passes emissions here in Phoenix, though just barely. If you can't do the welding yourself, then just have a muffler shop do it for you. Shouldn't be any trouble.

I've gotta build an RX-4 exhaust soon. I think I'll do it similar to Wankelguy. One RB RX-4 header, one long presilencer, and one primaflow muffler should do it. The old rusty aftermarket replacement muffler looks like a piece of crap, and has a kinked pipe hence the desire to replace the muffler. The primaflow will fit if it's the same dimension as a stock 1st gen muffler, which could just squeak by I think.

OOOO OOOO, me next!
I was thinking fully divided header (roadrace), then dual magnaflows, combine around the axle and do a single muffler and a tip
I believe I'll work on the intake and suspension first.

You don't need to accelerate when you can't turn and brake.

RX-4 exhaust

Thanks for all of your helpful suggestions. I think I will get the Racing beat presilencer and have a muffler shop bend some custom pipes and install it to the original RX-4 muffler. Thanks.

^The header should fit, don't know if the presilencers will be routed the same though.

Do you still have the thermal reactor on the RX4?

Wanna buy some RX4 parts?
