rx3 rear brakes.

i am in the middle of doing that rear disc conversion using the GSL parts?, and i read on the respeed forum, that to get it done properly its saying to cut some plate off? what plate? can anyone help me with pictures, or anything, and is it even worth the conversion?

Does it stop better? or does it just look better than those nasty drum brakes?
thanks
-eddie
any help will be appreciated

imho, u wont be able to tell the difference unless you upgrade the front. And definitely, much better braking if u change the booster also to 81-85

The bCking plate needs to come off. either cut it or pull out the axle completely to remove the plate. You will need the gsl.end ebrake.cable and a trip to homedepot

remove the backing plate not the axle retainer plate, reinstall the axle and secure it to the axle flange (there are 3 bolts) with a new high grade bolts and nuts (i dont have the thread pitch and length handy at this time) but I believe RE-Speed comes with it. old pix but somewhat still handy

I think the RX3 guys who run the FB front suspension either live with the drop or space up the body from the strut mount (shims etc...)

Yes and yes. One has a cut tube and extended using a tube/pipe. The other has abextended tube using 2 sets of fb strut tubes

Hey Wacky...
Do you use the RE Speed strut tube spacer then...you know like the spacer that goes under the strut insert? Does it help with ride height issues??? my GLC is just about the same as a RX3 in the front...so you know I'm interested. Thanks.

nope as I didnt own a welder at that time, though I was certified by City of LA back in the days but was unable to find a job in the 80s so I switched career lol. I just purchased a low budget mig from HP but hasnt found time to do anything.

Islandnow did the first set of tube and RMS took care of the second one. Just take your time with chop chop and be sure to grind/remove the paint where it needs to be welded, make life easier for whoever gonna weld it.

The fb perch is much smaller than an RX3 perch, so it looks more spacious.

by any chance did u remove the residual valve in the master cylinder? or would that cause a bad case of rear lock up? i went to sevenstock, were u there?

http://www.bonanza.com/listings/Func...-74-75/8817814
and these seem like they would fit?

I tried them with and without the residual valve (FB and RWD GLC/626) but I didnt notice any difference as my rear never locked up. But since these M/C were used from junkyard (yeah, pocket items so they were free lol), I've changed the M/C on all of my RX-3 to GSL and GSL-SE as I found a good deal on new ones.

Yeah I was at 7stock, parked between a rotary 510 and rotary mango and islandsnow yellow RX-3. No experience with function form as I dont own a RX-2; besides, I cant see myself spending that much.
