RX3 Collapsible Steering Column Search

Hey fellow old-school rotary techs. I have a road race '77 RX3 that I would like to replace the steering column on for safety and general tightness issues. Has anyone done this with an aftermarket unit? I see plenty of circle track stuff online, but I'm sure none of that will have the proper splines at the bottom of the shaft...although I have yet to take it apart. I figured I would post first to see if anyone has had any experience. Waddya say?

Try it out and tell us how it goes. I guess us old school rotary guys are either intimidated or don't have the knowledge to tackle such an upgrade.

I played around with it this past weekend. Not looking good. Apparently the RX3 seems to be the only rotary Mazda that didn't have a removable steering column. It's integrated into the steering box. Rules say I can't mess with the box, so I guess I'm s.o.l.
