In my information, it shows the "width of the car measured in the vertical plane passing through the axle of the wheels Front 158cm (62.2 inches) and rear 159.5cm (62.8 inches)" - not sure how this differs to the "front and rear track" which is not as wide, but is on the same page of info????

Just measured up the 3 down stairs, and the width across the front wheels (195/50/15 wheels) and it is just over 62 inches across...

I'd rather have a leaf spring car than a factory four link car. For drag racing at least. Much cheaper to get it to work right.

Well, I gotta say that I'm a little disappointed. Anything pre-RX-7 is hard to come by in the Southeast, so I'm not unhappy that I found an RX-2, but I had no idea it was considered such a poor car. I also didn't realize it was such a pig. I still like the styling and I'm never gonna push the handling, but this thread just took a little bit of fun out of the whole thing.

Well damn.

Well as soon as I finish with my RX2 which should be some time in the next month I will see how much it holds to the truths. Very much so I have modified a lot so I doubt the geometrics will be the same. The motor is now set all the way back against the firewall, with a new cast mounting plate accross the bottom along with the one in front and have them connected under the oil pan with another cast plate, rx3 lower control arms w/ RX7 ball joints and front suspension, and all new poly bushings all the way around. 3rd gen rx7 steering rack. I think it is going to handle just fine when im done. The rear suspension shouldnt be that hard to fix. And I dont see top drag cars running leaf in the back of there cars i believe it is all 4-link they ALL run. And the reason i think it didnt go on the 3 and 4 is for price reason the 4-link back then was ahead of its time and it probably was cheaper to run the leaf with the reasoning that they might think the 4 link was a little too much for a daily driven car which probably wont be raced. The prduction mazda "race car" came out with the rx7 and look what they went back too the 4 link. Anyways like I said its all in your own opinions. He mentioned rally racing and personally I wouldnt rally race anything that wasnt AWD.

Looks like we have upset the RX2 guys! They are all good - if everyone had the same ideas and taste in cars the planet would be a very boring place

Over here in NZ, RX3's are the most common "old school" RX seen circuit racing, RX2's and 3's are popular at the drags - and there are lots of RX2's still on the road as cruisers!! All good stuff....!

If you have a 4 link setup in your drag car, it better be running low 9's high 8's. Most people dont have the money to build a 8 second car, and leaves with a pair of slapper bars is pretty cheap. You can run 10's and into the 9's with slappers. Substitute the word "slapper" with the word "caltrac" and you can run in the 8's. Dont beleive me? Rene Franco runs 8's in his 3 with stock leaves. Or just look around on Ausrotary, they got a ton of them down there. 4 links are tubbed race car stuff.

By the way, where is the extra 500 lb in an RX-2 that's missing in the RX-3? I've yet to find anything on the car that I'd consider "too sturdy". Let me know where the weight is and I'll get cutting.

First off, in stock form, The suspension sucks on both of them. Take an FD for a drive, and I think you will understand where I coming from. Secondly, with enough time and money they can both be made to handle well.

I have had both RX2's, and a RX3's, and despite it's weight differential and obvious lack of handling I will take the 2 any day. I just like them better. Hopefully, when I am done with my project, I will have a nice handling, very fast, RX2.

FD and old school RX are not THE SAME!!! you cant compare apples and bananas.

Doh!! Obviously, mucho dinero make anything good. But a car is not a priority in my list.

And hell yeah, RX-3 is much lighter than a RX-2.

Just buy a damn FB....
Yeah they are ugly but they handle "okay" in stock form and you can run on a stock GSL-se rear end with out having your wheels pop out to hell the way the SE axle does to the RX2.......Horrible.Stop wasting your time and jump into the next decade......The 80'S!!!!!

HahaHaHaahahahaHaha

yeah so eat that........

It may be apples to banana's, but in the grand scale of things, they both still suck. That was my point. And, if you're willing to put a little bit of money into either, you can get them to handle fairly well.

Having a modded engine is acceptable but replacing all other stuff is not IMHO. I will just buy a different car.

Well, my thoughts are,m I had a 72 808 and i freaking sold it to get a duece. I just think they look better. I have the chance to buy a realyl sweet RX3, with a **** load of parts fo rit, lots of cherry stuff. but I liked my rx2. Mine was all stock, all stock, and i was very please on how it handled with worn bushings and more. I have never drove a rx3 so i cnat realyl compare the two. I have had a 83 rx7 but it rans like crpa so i guess i could compare it to my old 88 rx7. but that jsut not a fair comparison, like with the FD. you jsut cant. its not fair.

BUt i think i will try a rx43 soon, after I sell my new 88 323 gtx, and I will see how it handles. I still have a duece but its by no means drivable, I plan to swap in a ton of GSL-SE stuff, and I think that would giv ealot of cars a run for there money. I realyl jsut think the 2's look better than the 3's though. but hey every body has there own preferences. Lates Matt22

back to the original question.....
How would you like a nice Rx3-SP?

I have one pretty nice one and one that needs redone.....

I don't have a price, but I am going to figure it out soon.....

I also sell the entire stripe kit for SP's if you need it too....

I'm making the kit to fit the rx2 also!
