rx2 master cylinder options

My car has been sitting in my garage for over five years. I am starting to restore it again.

Are there any options for rx2 master cylinders? fb,fc, fd3s, 929, or manual brakes (non boosted) ?

My current master cylinder is not safe.

79-80 if you want to keep the same thread pitch so less work.

FB has different thread pitch so it requires a little bit more work than SA

Either one, you have to plug the outlet on the bottom if you decide to retain the original brake line design (single into a wye for front and left brake calipers). Otherwise, its not a big deal to run new lines and double flare the ends with the new inlet fittings to match the brake master.

Just to make sure I understand you: I can replace the booster and the master cylinder on the firewall with one from a 79/80 rx7 and it will bolt up to the firewall.

Is this the "W" you where talking about?

Can I bypass that? I would like to just use a y split for the front. For the rear I would like to run the other brake line from the master cylinder to a adjustable proportioning valve that goes to the rear of the car.

My front and rear brakes comes for a gsl-se.

I started to make brake lines today and found out my master cylinder and W junction block has different fittings. (master 3/8 24; w junction 10 mm 20 TBI ) From Siraniko info and Dave photos I think I have a rx7 master cylinder 81 and newer. My master cylinder has a sensor on the bottom. Is that wrong?

Is this a rx2 booster?

also a 1974 RX4 Master Cylinder will bolt on too. These are a little easier to find. I'm personally going to send the one in my car to get rebuilt.

Dave, where did you get your brake booster rebuilt and how much did it cost?

Thx,

Jarrett

I just picked up my 76 RX3 power booster rebuilt by Power Brake Exchange. Total cost was $135 but there was no shipping involved as I live nearby their San Jose reman plant. They also have a plant in LA that probably does will-call too. Probably $150 to $160 for those who can't do will call and need it shipped in USA.

Does anybody know what this booster is from? It has four bolts that goes to the master cylinder.

On another a note ( I don't think I need a separate thread ).

I was trying to figure out which line to the w junction went to the front or the rear of the car. While doing that my brake fluid starting leaking at brake line from the w junction to the right front caliper. With the wheel turned all the way to the right the flexible brake hose is tight. The current hose is about 20 inches long.

The calibers are from gsl-se. Does one year have a long brake hose?
