rwd GLC as rotary project?

I have a chance to buy a rwd GLC with 80k on it for $200. I've heard that these had many parts in common with other early Mazdas. Can anyone tell me what is interchangable on these cars with other Mazdas, such as suspension, etc.

thanks

basicly the same as a 1st gen and rx3. using an rx3 crossmember you can easily mount a rotary in it. i say GO FOR IT!! its been done many times...

Of course it would be tucked away until my Rx-4 is finished. Just gotta figure out where to tuck it.

A 79 GLC I think is lighter than a rx3 has a better rear set up (links insead of leaf springs) and almost any rotary will fit .(turbocharged motors will required custom exhaust manifold).Good luck.....Jim

Good luck on your project!

RX-3's can still handle regardless of the leaf springs. However it costs a bit of money and might need some custom fabrication.

you can fit rx-7 front suspension on it with a little work, (1st gen rx7).. i have had , two glcs with rotaries.. they are a lot of fun to drive when you do the conversion.. i made my own front motor mount braket.. its was easier for me..

I got the rotary GLC!

I'll be pulling the stock ported 13B out of my Cosmo tomorrow to stick in the GLC. Also, my 20B is shipping tomorrow for my Cosmo. If that's not enough, I'm starting the port work for a half or full bridgeport tomorrow.

Guess I've gotta get to bed at a decent hour. Heh, yeah right. Who could sleep?

I've got a question for you rotary GLC guys. What kind of porting did you run? My first engine in this car will be a stock port 13B from my Cosmo to work out the bugs in the chassis etc as this car's never run with a rotary in it before. Should I put the bridgey in it next? If not, it's going into my REPU. Thoughts?

Oops, it's a '78 model year car that was built in late '77. I guess they were sold in '78-'81 or something like that. Get 'em while you can.

What kind of porting do you rotary GLC guys run? Did you keep the stock gas tank? I've got a fuel cell to use, if necessary.

Yes it was known as the 323 here and there. In the US it was known as the GLC for a few years there. Thne it went to 323, then to a combo of 626 and new Mazda 6. Kind of a weird run.
