Ring and pinion interchange?

Hi All,
We have a 72 Courier (re-branded Mazda) with the 10-hole flange center section diff. We would like to put the (I think) 86-88 TII or TT center section in it. Is there any reason the ring and pinion from a B2600i (3.27:1 ratio) or something similar would not mount up on that center section and clearance out correctly? As an example, we dropped a LSD unit with 4.56 gears into our 3/4 ton with 3.50's and had to machine the LSD unit to get it to set up right because of different back spacing.

Thanks, Ron
