REPU w/turbo?

Hey guys,

I'm not really old school rotary edumucated but I just might be picking one up. I've found a really straight, relatively rust free REPU. Someone has put a "Pinto" motor in it, so the original is long gone. The truck looks like it has been sitting under a tree for a few years but the body is straight, even the rear bumper looks OK.

I just so happen to have a complete 13B-REW engine, trans, etc that I'd like to put in it. Is there enough room width wise to fit in the REPU engine bay?

Thanks for any tips you guys might have. Is there a LSD available for the REPU? Brake upgrades, etc?

Thanks,
Jeff

Where are you?

Yeah wings, liked we talked about today, it is possible that your motor will live in a REPU.

The LSD is going to have to be a custom one off kinda thing. I'm not aware of anything that is a bolt-in. However, awhile ago Rob@Pineapple was working one something....but I never followed up on it.

I don't know about brake upgrades, but I can tell you this form experience.....110+mph, and you be wishing you had brakes!!

The only down side of the repus, is that finding parts can be a pain in da ****. And if I remember correctly, I think someone allready put a REW in one/stock twins.

Sorry I can't help more, CJ

BTW: I have a couple parts laying around. And I'm willing to get rid of them for dirt cheap.

I know an Atkins 7" supecharger fits in an REPU after you trim the sheetmetal upper A arm cover. Also, the idler arm is on the outside of the frame, so fitting stock twins should be no problem as I believe the frame is plenty wide enough.

As for LSD in REPU, I'm trying to find out if any of the Mazda B2200/2400/2600 LSD's will fit. Or mabye something from Nissan . . . . . .

It's just tough to find a spare 74 REPU diff to tear open and measure so my REPU won't be out of commission during the process. Anyone have a 74 open diff with 4.625 r&p and diff case to sell me?

Once I get measurements I'll pull a newer Mazda truck LSD apart and see if it'll fit.

how does that work? i looked @ repuguru's site and didn't find info on that.

would a 79 rx7 tailhousing mate to a T][ gearbox?

or do we take the internals of the T][ tranny and put it into the 79 case and use 79 shift rods, etc . . . ?

thanks,
brad

Damn, that is a really clean repu! Love the color. You don't happen to have any bigger pics do you? Have you ridden in it? Can these trucks actually be made to handle that good?

Chris Green's truck

I don't personnally have any larger photos. There may be some floating around from last year's Mazda Extreme Street event at Laguna Seca.

Chris has made the car handle well be doing the following things: runs gumballs with FD sized wheels, has a gi-normous front swaybay with urethane stabilizer links, and lowering springs. Oh, and he drives the thing mercilously hard :-)

Yes, I've ridden in it, but not in an autocross setting, only on regular roads....

It is currently getting repairs to the front and rear due to a putz ramming the car from behind into another car up front. Call Checkpoint for more details.

Time to go wash my baby. Only 250 more miles before we through on the T04S......
