I think I may have found a REPU forsale at a local used car lot! I've been looking at some pictures from old brochures and from the road it looks just like one.

I am going to hopefully go look at it either tomorrow night or during the weekend when I have some daylight. It has been sitting in the lot for right around 8 months minimum. I'm not sure why I never noticed before other than I passed it off as a Datsun or Toyota until today when I just happen to glance over as I was going by and see that it says Mazda!

If it is, I'll snap off some pictures over the weekend. What should I look for when purchasing one? Are there certain areas that rust out more? Does the engine tend to have the same problem as the 12a with the dowel oil leaks? Was there a mini pickup made by Mazda during the 70's that would have any other engine except the 13b? If so, I've got a couple of 12a's laying around, would it be easy to swap one in in place of a 4 cyl.?

Ok, I already have doubts it is a Mazda now and think maybe I was just seeing things. All the REPU pictures that I come across in a search have the mazda symbol on the grill. The one I saw this monring looking like Mazda was spelled out and there was no symbol. So am I just seeing Mazda and it might really be a Datsun?

Then it's probably a Datsun. But stop and look silly, lol.

Ok, I just had to stop by even in the dark. I just could just get the headlights angled towards it enough to read the nameplate. It is a Mazda, spelled out on the grill with only single headlights but still the mini truck style.

I'm really intrigued now so I am definitely stopping by on Saturday to see what engine it has in it.

It was a B-series truck. Same as a Ford Courier and look similar to REPU but no fender flares and as you said, MAZDA spelled out across front of hood. Also has rectangular tail lights like the Courier instead of the round ones on the REPU.

As far as runst etc, the REPU battery box is on the passenger side behind the cab, those rust out alot. Plus rust on the rocker panels and under the windshield weatherstripping just behind the hood. Actually, pretty much the same as any other vehicle 30 years old.

I'm glad the battery is NOT in the engine bay. The battery box is easy to repair.

Ok, it is either the B1600 or an early B2000. I wasn't able to stop during the weekend, too busy moving into a new place.

I saw an old B2000 roaming around town during the weekend while I was moving and it looked just like the one on the lot.
