Removing 6mm Seals

Well we bought an early 12a I'm assuming a 73ish RX2 engine (has the twin dizzy, 4 spd tranny, double side seals, HUGE apex seals), that was sitting for the last 30 years, the rotor is currently stuck in the housing, how could I go about removing the the apex seals (I'm assuming they are carbon?) they are going to have to sock for a lonnnnnngggg time, years maybe, what kind of cleaning solution will be easy on the seals, but not eat them?

Thanks

Kevin

I will get pics up sometime shortly, they are on my buddies camera.

They are carbon. But I doubt that you will get them out i one piece. Try soaking them in oil for a couple of weeks, but don't get your hopes up

I was lucky enough too, and picked up an early twin dizzy 12a for 150$. When i opened the engine i saw the engine had only like tops 5,000 km on it. The rotors look like they have never been used, same with the apex seals. So i put them on ebay and couldn't even get a lousy 50$ for the apex seals and 50$ for the rotors Congrats on the find though, they are super cool engines with their strange dual side seals, and lightened e-shaft.

Toss some ATF fluid in there and she'll fire right up. Make sure you use ashless so you don't damage that motor.

Good gawd, it looks like it was used as a boat anchor. Can't say I've ever seen one that rusted internally, what a shame.

I'm glad my RX-2 engine doesn't look like that inside. There's a chance mine will live again.

Are the rotor housings salvageable?

If you need a set of side plates and another waterpump, I may have what you need. Not sure of their exact condition, but they're night and day compared to yours.

No, those housings are scrap, those large leaf shaped rust pieces are the chrom that flaked off, we aren't rebuilding it, more or less a learning expericance, we had a 5foot bar on the Johnson bar, figured it to be about 1200ftlbs to crack the flywheel nut, and that still didn't make it turn over at all.
