Smile rear end ???'s, help needed

Hello every one, I'm working on a '74 RX-3 that have the following mods, 13B J-bridge ported, race exhaust ported, Atkins 2 piece apex seals, hardened stationary gears, '91 rotating mass, all new seals,T2 tranny with '74 RX-4 bell housing, race clutch and disk. I need to put a stronger rear end, but do not want to cut/tub the car, I think that a 9" will be to big for it, Is there any other diff that will fit with a little mod, not to the car but the diff itself? Forgot to mention that it also have an Atkins 7" supercharger with a Holley 650 sitting on top of it. Any help will be appreciated, thanks, Dave.

The car will be used mostlly for the street with the ocacional trip to the track. I'm trying to keep it looking as original as possible, kinda like a sleeper type, that's my reason for not wanting to cut the sheet metal. Just want to whip some of the local guys that have all this Hondas with a lot of noise and no go.

They have Mazdas in Uzbekistan?
The Ford rearend is probably your best bet. My friend has one in his GT3 RX3, so I know it can be made to work. -WG

I' m just stationed here for a while (Uzbekistan) hope to go home soon. My concern with the Ford 9" is if the housing will rub the chassis, I know that the housing need to be cut and so will the axles, but will it fit in the car without modifications to the body?

kind of off topic, but how do you like the Atkins supercharger?

I'm thinking of going with one of those because I simply do not want the heat, plumbing and durability problems associated with a turbo/intercooler setup.

I've got an 84 12A thats going in a 73 RX-2 with a 5 speed MT.

Any thoughts are appreciated. thanks
Dave

Thanks every one for the responses, I'll check that site. As for the supercharger I also did not like the idea of all the plumbing and custom made parts needed for the installation of a turbo. I'm not looking for an awafully fast car, just something to have fun. With the turbo it will definetly make more power but at the cost of a great increase of heat and stress to the engine, also the adition of a engine management system and all the other associated components, this supercharger is rated only to about 6-7 psi, so I still have the power increase and hopefully the reliability on the engine, not to mention the looks it gets when the hood is open, virtually everyone has a turbo installed on almost anything, when people see this thing their jaws drop to the floor, kind of nice.

I do hope to be able to whip some of those pesty Hondas and what have you. One of my friends told me that I can put a Chevy 10 bolt diff in , that it can hold the power and will not be too big that I will have to cut the chassis, what do you guys think? Any ideas as fo how much power will this engine will be making? Just curious.

you can do a 8.8
these are a dime a dozen.
though the rear and axles will have to be made to fit, you will not have to tub it. you could still fit a decent wheel/tire under there.

How much does an 8.8 need to be narrowed to fit?
