Wayne this is coming along great ! You're giving me some serious motivation to keep working on mine (though not nearly this perfect). Fantastic progress... shall we plan for a RX3 cruise next summer ?

Good on ya for doing another (8?! WOW) old school project. Obviously you aren't afraid to put time and (a lot of) money into them. I agree on the body guys- you have chosen well. Tough to find shops even willing to do what you are needing here- there's too much to be made in the collision repair game, and most customers aren't interestred in spending the money on the hours required to do these kinds of jobs correctly(I'm one of them, so mine take me forever). Only 4 weeks past the 'original' date- you are doing well!

Would love to give my Rx4 GTR this kind of love someday.

Hey CamanoRX2 - Those GTR's are really cool. We never got them on my side of the world - I remember the owner of the local rotary shop had a beautiful dark metallic blue RX4 coupe when I was in my early teens. It was probably the reason I got into Rotaries in the first place. I love the RX4 coupes, Maybe one day if I found one for the right money I would look at building one.

Hang in there with your build eventually the financial side of life comes right (took longer than I thought for me!) and you get the freedom to do these kinds of projects.

AB Today is a good day...

Finally spraying the color!!!
This shot is before any clear coat was sprayed. I will post more pics when I have more time.

I went with a waterborne 2 stage paint, So much easier to get a the metallic consistent.

Color is Mazda B5 - Galac Silver.

Looks very nice mate, looking forward to seeing more pics. In regards to the the fuel flap, it shouldn't be too hard to find another one, even if you had to source one from here in Australia.

AB Mazda P0rn!

Clear has now been sprayed. Next step wet sanding - So close I can smell it!

I have some areas in the engine bay that need some further attention and so will likely have to respray the engine bay but overall I'm a pretty happy man right now,

AB Sorry for the lack of updates...

Firstly Calgary winters are test of motivation when your garage is not heated!
I am quite a bit behind where I thought I would be right now but happy to say the car is slowly taking shape.

After the clear was sprayed I loaded her up and took her home.

I spent some time doing those annoying jobs that have to be done before the glass goes back in such as replacing the headliner. I used an ebay special and I have to say it turned out real pretty, however the C-Pillar seams as per the original are not there so you really have to take your time to get it in without any wrinkles. I also repaired and recovered the dash - While technically the glass could have been in for this job I will take the extra head room any day! Again it is amazing the results you can get if you take your time.

This weekend I restored the tail lights, (note the side supports for the rear bar are not bolted up hence the reason it is not sitting quite right )

With parts slowly making their way back onto the car I am getting space back in my garage. Enough space to wheel my engine stand out finally start building the engine.
