Pics of the REPU Autox'n

Well I tested out the new wheel/tires on the Repu this last weekend. They did good enough for 1st place out of 4 in the "Street Modified" classes.

Nice job! Lowering it drastically increases cornering ability. But realignment is necessary since lowering changes camber, caster, and toe in very bad ways.

Any suspension mods? I'm still trying to decide what to do with my REPU when I begin the restoration. I would be very happy if I can get it to handle like my widebody 1st gen. Been debating on changing the front and rear suspension entirely. I have enough parts laying around that I could do an entire 1st gen or S4 TII suspension swap.

I won't know if it's feasible until I pull the box and cab off the frame, but I think the irs swap might be possible since the REPU has boxed frame rails. Changing the front from the double wishbone to MacPhearson struts may be more problematic.

I like the 2nd pic, you almost have the front wheel off the ground. Truck looks good, has that ratrod sleeper look.

Thanks guys,

No suspension mods yet, but I am looking into it.. I have an itch to put the drive train out of the 1st gen in it, but I love the way it handles now and don't want to go over board on the power with it.

Here is one of the runs before I dialed in more negative camber and put more gas in the tank (fuel starvation)

Running an auto in 1st only? Wow, that must be great for auto-x once you get rolling.
Does it still have the 4.7's like the 4sp manual repus?

My friend Auto-x's his repu because he can't turn his head in his FD w/ a helmet on, and he does fairly impressive for a 70s truck w/ a open diff and the cheapest truck tires he could find.

Man do I love REPUs

Unfortunately it has a 4.11 rear end, but that will be good once I turbo it.

Thanks for the complements.

Clearance issues, etc.

Thanks!

17s will fit on a repu, it just depends on rim width, offset, and tires. the rear has a lot of room to play with. you will need to be mindful of rubbing the front sway bar, so anything wider than 7" will start to get tricky.

I had no issues with the 17x8 and 17x9 setup rubbing, but I did make some braces for the lower part of the fender up front.
