I thought you had to modify the bellhousing some, nothing real major. Thats why I put yes and no. Time to find another Starion.

What kind of mods have to be done to make it all work?

What do you think the total cost of doing a rotary swap in a b 2200 would be?

You have to get the one from a Mazda B2600. It has the removeable bell housing, put the T2 or RX-4 one in with slight modifications and you are good to go. Supposedly it's a good tranny and a lot of budget racers use them. Same splines as a T2 also.

Just use the T2 tranny as I did, you'll need a new driveshaft.....I've been working on mine in my own garage for 2+ years, I don't have a lot of free time. It can be done realitively cheap, but you will need a welder and some creativity it is not just drop it and go.

It's the Mazda model R (Type III) transmission. It's used in everything. Hell, even Ford uses it in the F150 and Ranger.

Any possibilities that a ford ranger 4x4 would have same front diffy as the mazda 4x4?

depends on what year, 93 and on is all ford, and i believe 84 and down ford courier is all mazda, and i imagine that there are plenty of different gear ratios used in the mazda trucks, i believe the early 80's version had interchangeable ring and pinion gears with the fb's... so then you could have what? a 3.9 i think?
