Papsmagu RX-4 - Mini Build

So I bought this car in 2014. Plans were to clean up the interior and drive it. Nothing fancy. Well, one thing led to another and this is what became of it. I’ll call it a mini build, because I cut a lot of corners just because I could not afford to make a full build out of it. Maybe one day I will pull everything apart and do a full detailed build, but for now, it is one of my favorite cars to drive. Handles great for a 40+ year old car. Strong engine and great suspension make it a joy to drive. Anyways, enough of me blabbering, here are the pics:

The day after I bought her:

After driving it for some time, i started to take everything apart.

While the interior was getting completed, i decided i would update the suspension components. I am a big fan of superpro bushings so i ordered everything i could get my hands on from superpro, the rest was sourced from rare parts.

since the rear suspension was getting all the attention, i figured the front needed to get some attention also. I ordered some Acbron Motorsports coilovers for the front. Replaced all bushings, tie rod ends, swaybar bushings and steering bushings. since the coilovers were so pretty, i went ahead and dressed up the inside fender wells

the coilovers were so pretty, that i didn't want to install the old drum brakes up front, so ordered a set of Aerospace components front and rear brake set up.

Clean up all the suspension and re-installed with all new bushings:

Found a set of 15" Longchamps. They were sent out to get re-barreled for the proper fitment:

After 4 months of waiting......they finally arrived all re-sized:

Bot some tires on them

Finally she is back on her on feet again!!!

Beautiful Car and great work! What did you end up doing to the top of the dash? I see stiching on the edges obviously. Did you recover it with some fabric or pay to have it done?

thanks....the original dash had some really deep cracks in it. I filled in the cracks and had the dash wrapped with new material. I did not recover it myself, i paid someone to re-cover it. The only thing i did was fill in the cracks. Its the same upholstery shop that did my REPU. i really like the work that they did on my previous project, so i used them again. all i did was assemble and re-assemble. here are some pics

thanks.....seems like i cannot leave anything alone. but that is the reason why we own old cars....because eventually they will break down and we will have to figure out why they broke and how to fix them.

What part of Florida are they in? I would love to have something like that done to my cracked SA dash as well. It really does look great!

me too, i was thinking about the flares. still on the fence about them. i think the only thing that is keeping me from doing it is $$$$$.....the flares are the cheap part but then i would have to re-size my wheels....not cheap

I've been wondering when you'd make a thread for her.
i'm not that good with making threads or taking pics along the way but i did the best i could. i was actually going to sell her until i put the wheels on her. Once i lowered her from the jack stands and saw what she looked like........i was like "hell no, she is not for sale"

I bought the wheels as 15x7 ET+12. Changed the rears to 16x9.5 ET -6 and the fronts to 16x8 ET 0. car is lowered two inches in the rear and probably about the same in the front. Not sure since it has coilovers. Tire size is 225/45 in rear and 205/40 up front.
