Old School Rotary

Currently I am attending school at Milwaukee School of Engineering or better known as MSOE. One of the professors that I have in absolutely in love with the rotary engine. Him and I got talking some about the rotary and he had asked if I knew about Feliz Wankel. I told him ofcourse and he started telling me all of these stories about how he had met Felix had been to his house, seen some of his projects, and so on.
My professor had worked for Outboard Marine here in Milwaukee for many years. His specialty was with the rotary engine. Well it turns out that during a conversation that we were having he asked if I would be interested in a couple of engines he has. I asked what they were and the price. He said if I could move them and dig them out of where they were I could have them. It turns out they are an old peri-port marine engine. To be specific they are Outboard Marine 471b engines. They put out 45hp each. They are 528cc. One is mostly complete with all of the internals being there and the dry sump system is there and the other is partial....It doesn't have a side plate or flywheel. I thought this was awesome! I will post pictures this weekend of the engines. He also has several engines from Fichtel and Sachs model KM24 that he may be looking to get rid of as well.

That PP engine would be sweet in a go cart. Imagine the sound it would make. Those sachs engines are worth a fair penny I've heard, at least up here in Canada. People are actually trying to keep the old sleds with the rotary engine going apparently.
