new RX owner

Hello everyone, just wanted to say hello. I just bought a 76 RX4 with a gsl se 13 b. This is my first rotary but I've lusted after one since my buddy showed up with a sweet little RX2 and scared the crap out of me with it! My intention is to build a nice little sleeper to have fun with alll the boy racers in town. I'm looking forward to being an active member of the forum. I'll post pictures when I get them.
Thanks,
Todd

Where in Colorado are you? I think my whole 6 years in the Springs I saw about 3 non-rx7 rotary vehicles and one of them was my truck.

Congrats on the car, should be fun.

Welcome to the rotary club.. heh
You said you got it off ebay, do you still have the link to the car you got off ebay?.

Here is one that just went for 900 dollers on there.

Did you buy the metallic brown/copper one that was on Ebay? It looked pretty nice.

I've got a '75 I'm restoring. I look forward to seeing your pictures.

Yeah, I saw that one, it was a rust free one I think. What did u end up giving for it? The bid was up to like 2150 or something like that when I saw it.

The winning bid was $2475.00 but I got it for $2300.00 Maybe a little high but a clean rust free body seems to be tough to find. Plus he's throwing in some extras that go with it. I'm comfortable with the price.
Talk to ya soon,
Todd

Well there's one on Ebay right now that's up to 2,400+, and it doesnt look as good as yours (all retro-riced-out), so I think the price you paid is fair. Of course now that I have one I want to see them get bid up high.

I wonder if the Rx-8 will make any kind of difference in old school rotary prices..

I thought about that one too, and came to the same conclusion. just got the details on the transporter last night. It picks up today and should be here tomorrow afternoon. I'm pretty stoked! I'd like an opinion from you guys if you don't mind. I want to put an engine in it and I was thinking of the 89-91 turbo. Does that sound logical? Or does the newer twin turbo offer any advantages.
Also, there is a repu on e bay for sale. looks pretty nice from the photos.
Talk to ya soon,
Todd

I wouldnt do the twin turbo, that would be much more complicated than the 89-91 turbo. It would not be difficult to get that older motor up to the same power as the twin anyways.

That's what I was thinking. I'm not looking for anything too crazy, would like to see 250-300 hp though. How complex is it to change over? New motor mounts, beefier driveline? And will I need to do a different diff?

There aren't any 1978 RX4 coupes.
Welcome to the world of pre-RX7 rotary cars!
I have a nice blue '74 RX4 coupe that is fairly rust free and straight, as well as being unmolested. Needs a motor, though. I also have a '76 Coupe for parts that was my daily driver for several years before it's '74 motor started pumping oil, and a '72 RX3 coupe that I've been slowly putting back together into an autocrosser. Good to have another RX4 owner on board, they are my personal favorite!

I saw that yellow RX4 on eBay, the one with the whale-tail? It evokes feelings of love and disgust simultaneously. -WG
