New rwd 323 project (GLC)

I picked this one up last thursday and its in pretty good shape (not many like this left in the UK!)

Now this is going to be a long term project but in the short term i really need to sort out the suspension. Whats the usual plan of attack for a GLC in the states ? I am thinking about S2 front struts but there are problems with the camber (positive ) I think.

I am willing to spend a little to get a nice setup so I'm not just after parts bin options (although if its possible I'll be all ears!)

I hope you like the photos and hopefully I can keep you updated once I get a plan togehter for the suspension.

Thanks for looking,
Mike

that's a nice little project there, Mike.

sorry i can't help with the suspension questions, but i'm sure you'll get some answers. i've seen many GLCs (323s) here that guys have put together for drag racing, but not much else.

off topic: how did those ITBs on the Rx-7 work out? is it up and running yet?

thanks for the comments guys.

The rx7 is having the exhaust and ECU done as we speak. Its not going to be done in a hurry though. The exhaust and ECU are being sorted by Hayward rotary in the UK. (as I can't weld and I definetly can't cope with electronics and tuning!)

thanks for that, I'm right in guessing that is whitelines website ? (I have e-mailed them asking what they have) They are over in Aus and I am in the UK so they are about as far from me as they are from you ...but I have bought parts from them before and they have a great sales service.

What kind of parts ? I've yet to need anything but I now theres some old stock pattern parts kicking about in the UK from the adds that pop up on ebay.

If you mean Whiteline they have yet to get back to me ... I'm not holding my breath for anything off the shelf but you never know !

Well, if you wanted to play with the piston engine a bit before you put the rotary in, I have an offenhouser intake with a weber and a header for a GLC...

it would depend on how much you would like for them ? ... the car didn't cost that much and I'm not really meant to be starting this project yet

Mike, I already have my GLC completed ! The car has a 13B 6port with a streetport applied to the primaries and a BP on the secondaries. I'm using a 48 Dellorto (DHLA) and it's holding up pretty nice so far ! Also, the driveshaft was shorten and balance. The Diff modified with 4.37 gears and conversion on bolt pattern from 6 bolt to 4bolt 4x110mm. So, i guess i'm close to were i want to be at this point. I need those parts mention earliar to comploete the GLC !

Mini update on the project ... now officially an RX323 project

Still hunting on the suspension front. I have some 13x6 4x110mm globe wheels in the post and have just sent of a money order for an rx3 x-member

pic ... anyone know what make they are ?

I think they are globes from piccies I have seen on the Aussie forums

Now do I paint and polish them or just paint the lot black ? (I don't like the idea of having to polish them LOL ... and recutting the face on the big lathe in the garage seems a bit scary)

the strut top attached to the front strut - the centre bolt is M12 fine and the PCD of the bolts is approx 130mm with the hole in the strut tower being just under 100mm in diameter

hi down here in new zealand these cars are probably one of the most common for rotary conversions iv had a few myself and have always used series 1 rx7 front struts as the bolt streigt in breaks and all just dont put a super low spring in as the struts ar already shorter and it will bring it down to far and you wont be able to steer at all i tryed and failed good luck.

sanded down and painted the wheels last night ( I remember now, why I hate painting things) hopefully they will last more than 5 minutes before the paint comes off :p

noticed a slight problem with the alloys too ... one of them is a different offset to the other 3 ... I have 3 that say 13x6JJx19P and one that says 13x6JJx23P.

I think the wheels are just about ready for some tyres now ! These photos are about as close as I want to post of my 'handy' work with a paint can

Ordered some wheel studs and nuts as well + A single 5mm spacer ... will machine 1mm off it. I'll probably pin it to the wheel as well to stop it going adrift or being forgotten

I doubt 4mm would make much difference on the rear axle anyway ... the panhard rod would allow that much lateral movement over a short travel
