New to me 76 Cosmo

It is not final yet, But I should have the car by wednesday. We made a deal but he would not let me pay until I picked it up.

Story goes that.

His uncle run a dealship and took this in as trade. 10 -15 years ago. It sat in the back of the lot this long.

My Dad, Friend and I looked at the car 8 years ago and at the time they would not sale it. I caught up with the guy saturday and made him an offer. He countered and I accepted. He has the Keys and Title for it.

All pics here http://www.matthewnanney.com/76Cosmo.htm

I will put the car back together if I can find the Front and side Glass that it needs, if not then It will get parted.

Sweet...... Between my Repu, your Cosmo and Crit's 2 we are on our way to having some cool rides running around the area. I also know of a guy working on a couple of 3's. I sold him the cars a few years ago.

Let's get them out there guys.

Well the car is at my parents place now.

the hood and truck both have rust holes through them. Floor pans feel good. Wheels are rotted through.

What bolt pattern does it use?

120x4 I think. It's not used on a 1st gen or any other Mazda in the USA, so you may need to get blanks and have 'em drilled because I don't think you'll have much luck finding aftermarket rims in that pattern.

DAM, I thought I had read 4X120, I am not so much interested in aftermarket, I just need something so I can make it roll again. May have to try welding the hole in the current wheels. Guess I could use and intertube.

That my friend is a cosmo RX-5 coupe . Back in the day these were not that really much love so there are not much around left to tell the tale . A pretty good find , You much wanna strip the car and check the body . Rust might be your main enemy here cause of it sitting in the open for so long ... Love'em white tires

You would expect the under body to have rust, But the car was parked in that spot sence 1987, and not a bit of rust under it. The hood and deck lid are another matter.

Get some tires on it it and get the engine started, Then start gathering parts.

That should take up all of this year.

My Cosmo had been sitting since '91. I picked it up in '98 and eventually got it started.
