I wonder....

What will the gear ratios be in the RX-8 6 speed trans?
How strong will the gears be compared to the 3rd gen?
Will it be possible with some swapping around of parts to get a 6 speed gear set in a 3rd gen? (Not the whole transmission, I'm thinking of swapping around some combo of bellhousings/cases/extension housings)

1st is already too low IMO for a modded car, so maybe it would be possible to put in the RX-8 6 speed and only use 2-6 gears or something cool like that? Perhaps after a few have been wrecked in the junk yard, the price of such a project would be fairly low (if it's possible at all).

judging by that pic, the trans doesnt look very similar to current rotary items, so I doubt you could change the bellhousings etc. around with an FD.

it also looks very much like the nissan S15 6 speed, which I have also heard is the same unit as used in the 6 speed MX-5 or miata as you guys get them
