My New Project: 1974 808 Wagon

Hey Guys,

Well after pretty much finishing my 1985 Rx-7 project, I decided to start on a new project. I wanted a RX-3 sedan, but a good one over here is upwards of $20K, so I wanted something a little cheaper that will hopefully get rarer in time.

The car is a 1974 808 Wagon. It has a 4-speed manual, factory Air-cond that is colder than my '98 Camry! and the mighty 1300cc piston power.

I'm the third owner with a genuine little old lady owning the car from new for most of its life. It only has 54,800KM's on the clock and all the original logbooks.

I was originally looking for a good base car to swap a RX-3 12A front onto and a set of RX-3 Wagon badges (this was after drooling over the RX-3 wagon's at the last 2 Sevenstock's) to make her look more like a RX-3 wagon. BUT after owning her for a few weeks, I couldn't justify modding such a nice original example of the 808 wagon.

So plans are, at the moment to just enjoy driving this very slow machine on lazy afternoons.

Then in the future I'll give the suspension a stiffen up, drop a Weber fed 13B bridgeport with sleeper exhaust and 5 speed, and respray the car the same color it is now so that when the engine's not running it still looks 100% completely stock, ie/ just like it does now.

Hope you like my new project as much as I do...oh and stopping in this thing can be fun without the assistance of a brake booster! let me tell ya!

Cam...

Nice wagon man!

I would lower it a little bit, but that's just me.

An 808 13B wagon was very successfully campaigned in Group 2E racing by Wayne Wakefield several years ago, he actually went on to race a few times in the V8 Supercars.

I built a 808 coupe into my RX3 race car in the early 90's before moving to the US

Cam, it is indeed a marvel. Putting in an RX-3 12A isn't modding, it's just putting the proper motor into the proper chassis LOL. When I come to Australia I'm staying at your house and playing with all your fun toys! LOL

He He, your always welcome to stay at my place if ya visiting.

I'm gonna have to put a 13B in her though, as 12A's are too hard to find and expensive compared to a 13B where I am...
