MORRX - MORis minor RX 7
G'day
My car is called MORRX being a play on Morris and RX7 as it is an amalgamation of the two. It is a work in progress, I have almost finished putting a NA Series 5 13B with its auto box into my 59 Morris Minor 2 door. Not long now. As I bought it Christmas 08. https://i41.tinypic.com/n6ox8h.jpg https://i44.tinypic.com/29ekqix.jpg https://i42.tinypic.com/2ev3eoh.jpg https://i42.tinypic.com/2uivko5.jpg https://i42.tinypic.com/1zwyk9l.jpg Now https://i32.tinypic.com/30mu2w0.jpg https://i30.tinypic.com/a1hgs8.jpg https://i48.tinypic.com/2s0eres.jpg Cheers Graham |

https://i37.tinypic.com/29uwv3m.jpg A couple of pictures I took yesterday. Not sure what to do with the bit under the bumper, I am thinking of painting it a flat black or bark blue so that it will blend in with the shadow under the car and not be so obvious. Any ideas? Cheers Graham |
that thing looks awesome!!! good job. i like it!!
|
paint that recession black, it will blend in much better. car looks good and i bet it moves with the 13B in there even in auto form.

G'day
Thank you for the positive comments. Each to there own on the auto, the series 5 box has 3 gears with an overdrive 4th with a hold function on the three gears so it can be left in auto or the gears changed manually, what ever I feel like, it is all good fun.:nod: Cheers Graham :):) |
Awesome mate! Looks like a fun car to drive. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah you are gonna need all the brake you can get. I'm actually think of install one of the universal brake booster to help get her woe'd quicker down. You need to post a video of this beast, I'd luv to here and see it in action!!!!!!!

G'day
I have used the booster and pedal out of an auto series 2 RX7 with a larger master cylinder, to cope with the big front brakes, it all works very well. The brakes are progressive and strong with no fade or lock up. https://i38.tinypic.com/4id6bl.jpg Cheers Graham :):) |

Well it has finally happened; Morrx was legally registered in Victoria this afternoon. I got the Engineers certificate, for all the mods, this morning and presented it with the relevant form to Vic roads who amended their records and issued a new registration label and certificate. Cheers Graham :):):) |
Congrats mate!
Always good to see someone do it all legally, as it makes the car worth so much more! |
Very Cool

A couple of pictures I took today. The latest on the engine bay. https://i51.tinypic.com/2ltiph0.jpg Finally got the chrome back on the front. https://i53.tinypic.com/2qcmb8m.jpg I went for a little drive after the grand final was decided (before half time) and had a bit of a play. On a deserted back road I thought I would get a rough idea how quick it accelerated and tried to time a 0 to 100km time. Using my sailing count down watch I got about 12 seconds but could do better. It is harder than you might think to get the watch going, pick your change points, watch the Speedo and most importantly watch the road. I left it in drive the first change was at 6000 (60km) not sure at what the second change came, too busy watching everything else, it did not need to change as second is good for 120km at 6000. All good fun. Cheers Graham :nod: |

Not long ago I was in a friend’s car (the old boxy Ford Festiva) and figured the centre consol would be an easy fit into Morrx. So I got one from the wreckers and tried to fit it yesterday. Sometime things work out and some times they don't, it was about 1/2 an inch too high to fit under the air-con so I cut a bit out of the middle to make it fit only to find that when it fitted into place it was too long and fouled the handbrake, a bit more cutting and it fitted. Not quite the easy fit I had hoped for but it progresses. The stereo I have got has a remote as the consol will be a bit of a reach when driving. I also had a play with one of the high back seats that came with the car. They will need a bit of work to make them fit properly but I have started Cheers Graham :) https://i55.tinypic.com/2a69rvn.jpg https://i51.tinypic.com/2ykf2mf.jpg https://i55.tinypic.com/fn91js.jpg Top or bottom choices? https://i53.tinypic.com/16lcj12.jpg |

Some pictures of the inside this morning, I was having a play seeing how things fit. I have also got a Tom Tom to show me the speed; I have found them good for setting the cruise control. http://i55.tinypic.com/2m9w6w.jpg http://i53.tinypic.com/2q383sz.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/xmkhsj.jpg Cheers Graham :) :) |

Stereo fitted and connected by me and surprise surprise it works. New inside aerial works, USB easy to use, remote works so no bending. Plug under the stereo is for the GPS. https://i53.tinypic.com/20if1ol.jpg https://i51.tinypic.com/ifbous.jpg Cheers Graham :):) |

New steering wheel - no more Ford anyway. https://i52.tinypic.com/5d1pqb.jpg https://i54.tinypic.com/2cosemv.jpg Anyway it will do till I get a real new one. cheers Graham :):) |
G'day
I had the front lifted today, lifted it by two splines around 2 inches. The car sits flat now with a bit more suspension travel giving a better ride. https://i53.tinypic.com/vwwy09.jpg https://i51.tinypic.com/70ak29.jpg Cheers Graham :):) |
