I was at the auto show down here in Miami, and wasn't surprised to see that silly MX-5 as Mazda's marqui display. When I asked a Mazda rep. why the conspicuous absence of the RX-8, he said with a straight face, "there are only two RX-8's made in the world and they can't be in 3 places at once". That made me wonder why a car that supposedly is to be shipped in a year, as a 2003 model, wouldn't be available for the largest car show in the country, under one roof.
However at the Dodge display, taking center stage on a rotating carousel, was the 2003 Viper. One final note from the Mazda rep., he said that Ford only owns 33% of Mazda. Is that right?

 

I will answer my own question. Ford does own 33.4% of Mazda.

 

There is an auto show in Seattle right now I think. I have no idea if the RX-8 is here though. I bet if it was, I would have heard about it already.

I was under the impression that Ford OWNS Mazda as well as Aston Martin, Volvo and a few others...33% does not sound right to me. But I am by no means sure!

Oh yeah are you sure that the auto show in Miami is the biggest in the coutry I thought the Detroit one was bigger.

 

It is advertised as largest car show under one roof. That's how they can make that claim. It really doesn't say mean much.
