The scoop just fine

I was referring to heatsoak. Good position for throttle response though since there will be less volume before the engine. Maybe thats why they are sticking with it.

I think that 250hp is an estimate to keep them from looking like idiots if they promise 500hp and 150 torque.

Hopefully they are being conservative about the HP, I think it needs around 300hp to be in the ball game with what the competition is doing -- 350z, g35, s2000, etc.

Thats an insanely sick ride. Hopefully Mazda Co. puts more time into the 8 and drops the 7.

Too bad you guys can't read.. The artical said 275BHP & 200ft/lbs.. Down below it list the stock #'s of 250bhp & 165ft/lbs.

I rather have a turboed version.

No one has yet cracked the engine managment of the stock ECU, that is the limiting factor that everyone who has ported (Ito), NOssed (C. Hill), turboed (re amemiya and greddy who are using emanage and some of the same stuff), or S/Ced (Pettit) has run into at some point. At above about 55-60hp over stock you run into serious fuel and timing issues with the stock ECU. Basically the RX-8 it needs something like a Power FC but there isnt one and of course there are warranty issues which there are going to be with FI anyway. Supposedly Wolf is developing an ECU replacement that would be akin to the Power FC but it is in the very early stages.

Stock they may seem pitiful, but that just means that even more can be had through a few aftermarket parts. The RX-8 is already a competitor with the 350Z, G35, and the S2000, and thats with only 240hp and hardly any torque. With 275hp and 250ft-lbs of torque, it would destroy all those cars, not to mention the upgraded suspension parts the concept car has.
