im not worried about the cost, (as long as its not crazy) because this is a project and im in no rush to finish it, as long as its dun the way i want it...
im still learning about rotarys and trying to figure out wots the best way to go. my minds pretty made up in that i want a 13b for my car, but can any one tell me the difference between the series 4 and series 5? ive herd the 5 comes with stronger shafts and is fuel injected?

Hi nick,
sorry, I don't surf here often.
Have a search here for some 1300 info, or better still go to www.ausrotary.com and check the technical section - search on 1300 and you will find heaps on how to do a 1300 conversion. Both here and there is info on how I fitted a 13b bp to my 1300 2 door sedan. It is an ok fit in the engine bay, especially in you model with the wider engine bay, but the trans tunnel needs a fair bit of work (ie replacement) to fit a suitable box. Mounting the engine is a bolt in job. As for s4 vs s5 engine differences, do a google search for the Hitman's website - Haltech Injection Tuning. He has an FAQ about this. Go the s5 if you can and if you want to run the stock IC and turbo, otherwise the s4 is fine.

Honestly, I'd strongly recommend just buying a 1st gen rx7 unles you are dead set keen on drag racing - even then, the 1300 can't be minitubbed as you have to relocate the rear chassis rails to make the rear wheel well bigger and fit more than 225/235 wide rubber. (I still don't know how a dude fitted 235's in there....)
A s1 or s2 is the pick with Australian emmission laws and they are getting cheap. A 1300 will never go around corners as well as a 1st gen for the same money. And a worthy 1300 is a hard thing to find these days too.
Have fun,
Mark
