manual rack and pinion for rx-3

Anybody done this or have any tips on getting rid of the steering box for a rack and pinion set up on rx3. Any help is apreciated.

I remember that people used to grab the rack out of Pintos. They were manual racks and surprisingly well-built. Because of the drag-racers using them (much lighter), there's also a good bit of aftermarket support. No idea what clearance problems you might find in a rotary, though.

I have that rack in my car right now and I cant get it working properly the steering radius sucks *****.


im trying to find a way to increase angle. any ideas?

Shorten the arm where the tie rod end bolts to? That should give you more steering angle, but might screw up other parts of ther steering geometry
