?Making FI work- carb vs FI

Here is my issue. i just picked up a 89 rx-7 nt- and im hell bent on making the FI system work in my... 1959 bug (swaping the motor). yes i know there is a few sites for this kind of thing but no one seems to know jack about working with FI it seems that most people think its more efficient to rip all the FI stuff off and stick a carb on. well this may be true but i really want to make it work on my bug.
Problem is i cant find any info about what needs to stay connected to make the system work.
if anyone has any good knowledge of how picky the computer is and what kind of things i can take off. such as emission stuff gague things power door locks windows wipers ignition ETC. just the basic turn key start and run. im trying to make this as easy on myself as i can but ive been thinking it might get a little out of hand.

Also, i could always just stick a holly on it. but im concered that ill be sacraficeing alot of low end power. and from what ive heard im going to need my low end as good as i can get it.
and if using a carb setup will hurt my low end what kind of things can i do to improve the lower end power spectrum? coil wires plugs ignition system?

this forum is awsome btw- thanks for any help i can get

How is it going? Im in the same boat myself. I bought a turbo engine off my X best friend and he took everything off the engine. But i think im going with a weber carb. I dont have the money nor the Know how to make a FI work. The main thing i was told was rotory engines are mainly vacuum hoses. I have a n/t right now and its kicking stock turbos ***. That is stock turbo on Honda and other vehicles. I got a RB header and all the turbo parts for it. My car is the strip down RX7. I'd rather have no power options vs power options. But my non turbo is putting out a little more HP then a stock 13B. But good luck on your car. I hope everything goes great.

theres a single wire harness that runs to the ecu.
all the sensors and crap are already on/around the engine.

when i pulled my engine, all i did was uplug it from the ecu. The harness comes out with the engine.

now on the right side of the engine (when standing in front, facing car) there are the obvious oil cooler lines, alternator connector, coils, oil pressure, and the starter connectors....

do you have a haynes book?? you should study the wiring diagrams.

im thinking the starter you can wire your self, thats not a big deal.
as for the oil pressure, you can just use aftermarket.
the alternator should be easy to wire up.

so i guess all im looking for is how the coils are hooked up to the ecu, and what harness that is.

just be sure to use fuses on everything...
