Lock/ignition key question for 1976 RX-3

I have a 1976 RX-3 and only received 1 key with it. It opens the door locks and trunk find, but I can't slide it into the ignition cylinder all the way. I don't know if it is because there is suppose to be a seperate key for the ignition or because the ignition cylinder is in the "Lock" position and there is a trick to get out of the "Lock" position that I am not aware of. When I attempt to slide the key in, it only goes in about 1/4 of the way. I tried to wiggle it around, but it doesn't want to slide in and I don't want to force it. Any help please?

all the 3's i've owned had two keys, one for doors and trunk, the other for the ign. u could remove the cylinder and take it to a lock smith. he should be able to make a key for it.

How do remove the key cylinder? Facing the steering column, I see a little hole on the left of the cylinder case that appears to be the mechanism to lock the cylinder in place. I tried depressing the hole with an awl and I am able to push the spring down, but I can't pull out the key cylinder for the life of me. I used pliers too! Am I suppose to remove the ignition switch behind the key cylinder also? If so, how do I do that? Help please!

there's a set screw on the under side of it, u'll need a small straight blade screwdriver. remove this set screw and the cylinder will slide right out.
