Just bought my son a 73 Rx3!

We just picked up a rough (ok very rough) 73 Rx3 for my son who is 15. How rough, well it came with a Datsun 4 cylinder installed (no it is not an 808). The plan is to complete sometime around when he gets his drivers license. I am very pleased to be able to go through this rebuild process with him.

Pretty soon we will be posting looking for parts so please let me know if you have anything hanging around.

you are in the right forum . . . just post some pix and report on your progress. I'll give you a head start on a source of parts - eBay. Check there daily searching for "Mazda RX3", "Mazda RX-3" and "Mazda Rotary" and you won't be disapointed.

You have my vote for "Dad of the year"...

But be prepared to pay big dollars on Ebay - the rest of the world is chasing RX3 parts as well!

Originally, he wanted my Rx2 (and that would have been hard), so I suggested that we look at some other Mazda cars. He thought the Rx3 was the coolest of the earlier cars. Then we just began to look for one. I guess when you are ready the car will appear.

We have been tinkering a bit and realized that it will need some rust repair. I am glad that I worked at a shop when I was a kid. It should be a great summer (and then some) project.

I will post some pics.

You know when I said "little beast," I meant the car, not my kid.

Ok, rxtasy3, how did you do that!
I tried to have the photo come up like that and all I could do is the download.

Kick, when I bring the camera home again I will post a photo of the Rx2.

if ur putting that engine to a manual tranny, u'll have to change the flywheel.

as for how i did the pic, after u upload and post the pic, click the link to the pic and right click on it after it loads and choose properties. in the properties window, there's an address(url) of the image, copy that url then go back and edit ur post and paste that url in between the [img] [/img] tags then click "save changes" button.
