You can still buy 10A housings from Australia. If I recall correctly, the Cosmo 110S 10As were P-port, whereas the R100 went to traditional side ports. In any case, 10As are still widely supported in Australia and Mazda is either making side-port 10A parts or has stopped only very recently. Jay's guys could make it all happen without too much trouble, I would think.
Of course, that's if the engine needs to be tossed. It might be possible to get it lapped and put it back together. I doubt the car's been abused much.

what was the weight of the cosmo? cant be that heavy. packed with a 12a ported or not it should still be a blast to drive and stomp the ricers of coarse.
awesome work jay, and thanks for waking up some hotrodders with the old skool jap muscle.

I just saw the test drive on my classic car the 12a set up in that car was actually very nicely done. As well as jay himself noted that the car wasn't a totaly prestine example when he got it. if it was jay would have stayed with a perfect factory restoration I would assume like some one said earlier about his steam car. He can reproduce about anything. Either way it is one very nice classic rotary.

And there is heaps of 10a stuff still around in Aussie and New Zealand. Mazda stopped making it in the 70's - most of what is left is unsold "new" old stock. You just need to know where to look.

Jay said it was not the original engine but a 200hp 12A that he got from Mazdatrix

Yes the Leno Cosmo is a 12a, it was basically built as a new motor by Mazdatrix, Dave Lemon did say it was street-ported as well with a side draft webber on a wrap over intake, they also provided a 81-5 5 speed for the car as well. they had to go completely custom on the mounts as original cosmo 10a stuff mounted drastically different. I don't think that this car had the original engine or trans when Jay got it, there was a Cosmo floating around CA in the last couple of years that was available that had a 12a in it. I know that Mazda still had engine kits (gasket sets) for the L10b engine a couple of years back i got one mistakenly when i asked for an R100 kit.
All the engine information came from Dave Lemon of Mazdatrix.
