IDA tuning?

Trying to tune an ida. Runs smooth from 4,000 rpms and up but just bogs below that. The float level is set per weber specs. I blew some air through the idle circiut and its clear. I've tried size 45 up to 70 idle jets and nothing changes. It won't idle at all. Any ideas appreciated. Wacky you there. I'll bring some ice cold heine's up to ss10.

Early 13b 4 port stock. 38mm venturies. I also have some 42's. Holley red pump. All new -6 fuel line. Regulator set at 6psi. I think the problem is with the idle circuit cuz it will not idle. Also I did not do the 3rd progression hole. Its smooth and responsive from 4000 rpm and up. Anything below its bogs and I have to keep it pumping to stay running.

Bring it to 7stock or drive up to LA tomorrow since Im taking a day off (PM me your # and I will help you tune it).

38 venturies is too small, even for a stock 12-A. Start with 42's and work your way up. The idea with the 3rd progression port (per barrel) is make a smooth transition when the main jets kick in around 3K RPM.

I'm SOL if it rains on Saturday. I have no working wipers, no door seals and very little window seals left.

I fixed it. One of the idle circuits was clogged with glass bead from when I blasted the carb. Idles perfect with a smooth transition. Thanks for the help guys. Wacky, Just look for my repu, I'll have a couple of coldies just because.

Just Rain-X the windshield real good. A friend drove a motorhome thru a hurricane with no wipers and a bottle of Rain-X.

Max, glad the IDA is working. I wanna check it out and if possible go for a ride. How is the drivability?

Anyone have a jig or template on where to drill the 3rd progression hole?

I was wondering the same thing on the progression hole. I'm assuming it goes next to the top hole above the butterfly but I'm not sure. Brad, are you gonna get there earlier this time?

no need for a jig. be sure it secure the carb and use drill press. remove the venturies and open the throttle. you dont want them to have holes.

oh yeah, invest on number and index drill bits. it makes tuning easier and there is no need to run around to find jets.

dont forget these mods

Wacky, I just got done putting the 75idler, 170air, 240main and a 300 needle valve in and she runs even better. Well have to go take her out for a spin and see what you think. I brought a hole bunch of tools and a timing light so I guess we can make this a tune day too. See you guys tomorrow. I'm in the green 4door rx2.
