Huge Horsepower for Cheap while maintaining a Sleeper Look

Hey guys, I really want to make a car that would go as fast as possible (does not need to be streetable) that would just be driven to and back from street races and make money... I was thinking a RX-3/4, a FB, building a super 7 replica, etc. anyway, what would you guys do with about 3-4k... this would use used parts and generally cut corners and make it as cheap as possible!

you could build a 240Z with either a 2jz, 13bT or rb26..... both are capable of low 11s hi 10s with minimal mods... mine runs 11.1 @ 125mph+ but i kept breaking rearends. it in the shop getting a solid rear. next year i plan on running 10.8.... then i will upgrade the stock turbos and turn up the booste !!!

Go the same route that moprblms went. Any dirt cheap busted old import (rear wheel drive, 2000 lbs, under $300) will work. Just rebuild a 12a with a big street port or half bridge and then hit it with a big shot of nitrous. You can put your engine together for under $2000 easily and then spend the rest of the money on chassis work. If you can get traction, a 2000 lb car with 350+ hp can kick some serious *** at the street races. Narrow a 9" ford or mopar 8 3/4", 4.88's, an aluminum spool, adjustable 4 link suspension (art morrison pro-link design) and a tub. Just drill out the front struts to release the pressure in them so you'll have better weight transfer. If you have some money left, put a cage in there (you'll kind of need it having backhalved the car at this point). This should be good for some SCARY ****** 10's.
