How rare RX-3

How rare is an RX-3 on the east coast? Cause there is a guy around my area selling a '77 sp for $2500 And I know I should buy it but me being 15 that doesn't really help and I am trying to convice my dad to buy it. He is looking for a car anyway and I have made him into a quasi-rotorhead. He wants it but I need to know if thats a good price

If it is all there, in running condition, not rusted away, I would buy it if I were looking for such a car. I sold my clean 77sp for that in 1995. So I would feel safe to say its probably worth it if it is all there and runs.
If it needs this, that and the other? I'd try to negotiate alot off the price.

I agree, it's really going to depend on how much rust is in it and over all condition; shocks, bushings, joints, etc. It's a good price if it's all there.

I picked up my 78 sp for 2800. Low mileage motor, nice interior, lots of rust, runs like a raped ape now. Still kind of looks like ***, but I dig it. I'm not regretting paying that much for it.

The 72-75 are the most common but are still rare just because rx3's by them selfes are hard to find. The 77-78SP though there was only 1500 made and they were a US import car only. Does this one have the orange and stripes and does it have louvers?

I had a '73 that had round tail lights.

My '75 is actually an 808.
This is the tail lights on my 808.

reason I asked was cuse some of you know that I am trying to this this old guys rx3 and it is around in those years. I have even posted what pics I have gotten of the car to see what you all think. I really dont care for the SP years my self. Even though they are rare. I like to try to keep my older cars under the OEQ year in my area. that is 74 and below I think in oregon..

No he is not BSing you. There were only 1500 made and the difference was that they came stock with 10hp more than the other rx3's. I guesss they put a better air cleaner on there and thats how they got it. Also all teh chrome on the SP's are "blacked" out. the front bumper, side markers, rear bumper. etc. its all black. Any ways i like the SP's i think they are cool. They are way more "tokyo street racer" style. hehee. let us kno though if you get it.
