Here's something unusual...

a 1974 Jensen Healey powered by a S5 NA 13B. The backstory: I'm a Jensen Healey fan, I have one that's been fully restored for road use. More information on the cars here: www.jensenhealey.com Anyway, I have been running my 12A powered Triumph Spitfire for a while but was outgrowing it, looking for more power etc for time trial and hillclimb events. So I ran across an IT prepped J-H which had a driveshaft pretzelize doing major damage to the tranny tunnel. The rolling tub was FREE, including a pro built roll cage, all I had to do was pick it up. No problem! Here's the car:

Here's the S5 13B in situ:

The driveshaft damage:

Modified RX2 rear axle with Mazda Motorsports 1st gen RX7 diff, 4:86 gears and converted to 1st gen rear disc brakes.

I have been working on this since October 2008, I fired it up today August 9, 2009. It sounds NASTY mean. Still a little breadboarded, gotta do some cleanup work and work out a few quirks but it RUNS!

Here's my rotary Spitfire:

More progress to bore you with.

Instrument panel. I still have to tidy up the wiring and cover the areas to either side.

8 gallon RCi cell.

Fuel pump installation.

Engine right side. Yeah, that's a 'po' man's Braille battery': a garden tractor battery, $25 at Wally World.

Engine left side. The radiator is a JEG's universal double pass and the oil cooler is a stock 2nd gen RX7.

Plans are to patch the big hole in the trans tunnel this weekend, then the rest of the fabrication stuff is just tidy up work.

But then comes the REAL work; tuning and sorting. :o
