Help getting a S5 NA running with stock ECU...?

Hey Guys,

I've got a bit of a problem, the engine on my B2200 is on its way out (no loss, its a piston...), and I've got a S5 13B kicking around from my 89 GX... Problem is I've only got the RH engine harness (direct to ECU) and the stock ECU...

Do I have a hope in hell in getting it up and running in my truck (not concerned about mounts, etc... thats easy enough). I'm just concerned with making it run (on the cheap) with the stock ECU and what's left of the wiring harness... (also, stripping all emissions wink.gif) ...I still have all of the sensors, and the ignition (coils, etc) but I don't have anything from the other harness (left that in the car )

Any help, suggestions, wiring diagrams, or misdirected insults appreciated! biggrin.gif

Yep,you can make it work.

There are some wires youll have to string on the left side from the ECU and for the primary power, but the big pass side harness is 90% of it.

Do a search in the 1st gen section for S5 swap threads,or look for my name,Ive covered the S5 stuff many times. It doesnt matter if its N/A or TII,the work is the same.Be forewarned, the S5 ECU is a lot smarter than the older stuff and its more likely to protest if you strip too much electronic stuff off the engine. At the least youll have a constant check engine light on,which makes diagnostics difficult. At the worst it can result in "limp home" mode, and the engine will run very badly.

Heres a link to the S5 FSM,to get you started.
The page to look at is either F1-8 for N/A engines or F2-8 for TII engines. That page has absolutely the most complete and easy to read engine wiring diagram for S5's there is.....I call it the Holy Grail.
Print it,turn it 90 degrees, then blow it up and hang it on the wall. Its everything you need to make it run......and you wont have to cut into or splice any harness' on the vehicle the engine is going into.
