Good Idea

I saw this done in the 1st gen section and thought it would be a great idea for us to do also. They have a thread that lets everybody describe themselves and their car. This would be more of a benefit for us since parts and info on our cars are alot harder to come by then 1st gen stuff. Lets get to know each other, I'll start:

My name is Mann and I live in Baltimore,MD. I have owned a 73 RX-2 for about 3 years now. I am 24 and have been loving rotaries since I was 14. My girlfriend gets jealous of my car since i spend so much time and money on it. Here's some history on my car:

I got my car from a 13 year Mazda mechanic for a gslse shell and a haltech e6k. My car started off an automatic. When the tranny went up it was time for a manual and new engine. (STILL HAVE A TWIN DIZZY 73 12A FOR SALE) I decided to go with a 83 12a that I had and a 79-80 tranny. I chose this for ease of installation. The added performance of the manual and the headered 12A was a tease that left me wanting more. On my way to work one day, my coolant line burst sending all my coolant the ground. I noticed the problem right away but I was close to work and I couldn't be late. It was either stop and save my engine or be late and get fired from a good job, I chose the latter. The engine lasted a couple more months(leaking coolant)then it became hard to start and smoked. I stopped driving it then. My car sat in the garage for about a year then it was time to make it work again. I needed 13b power so I purchased a used 85 engine. I rebuilt this motor and installed it with a matching SE tranny that I modified the tail shaft on. Using a Racingbeat Holley setup with open headers and a Mangnaflow muffler. This added power left me with one tire burnouts so i got a Racing LSD pumpkin with 4.10 gears. everything is basically new on the car. Ordered new Carpet from this company, got new master cylinder and throttle cable from mazda, new brembo rotors from this guy in MD, new drums and semi-metallic shoes, recored radiator, SS oil cooler lines/suspension kits/shocks from RB, Ground control coil-overs, calipers, and a lot more. the body is very straight with just a little rust around the rear window, It will be painted very soon. I will also post pictures.

Thats pretty much the jist of it! Please help this thread take off. This way we can use each other as points of reference. Feel free to babble on, post pics (engine and outside) and anything else. However, don't turn this thread into a communication thread. If you have qeustions for me or other poster please PM them or start another thread. I look forward to getting to know every1. THANKS

MANN

P.S. I HAVEN'T SEEN 1 OTHER RX2 IN MD OR ON THE EASTCOAST SINCE I HAVE HAD MINE, ANYBODY OVER HERE? RX-2 owners represent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Daniel, and it seems i'm one of the very few people on this board from the UK!!

My current drive is a classic mini, and my fb is dead - so I'm taking it apart and putting as much as possible into my mini!!

I'm an electronics engineer, and there isn't much about car audio that I don't know

here's a link to see what my naff RICER fb looked like before I started stripping bits off it
