TX Front Wheel Drive Trans for the Rotory

Is there a front wheel drive transmission that will mate to the 13B? I know it sounds crazy but there is a reason for it...

I've seen a FWD Rotary Civic before (I'm pretty sure it was on here, try searching for it). They probably used an adapter plate to the stock Honda trans or something like that.

if that was the case you don't need a FWD trans, you just need a transaxle. Bring in the Beatle. There are adapter plates for Dunebuggies for this purpose.

Ok i was wrong on the turbo bit, but there was a Luce that was FWD and had a rotary along with a few others.

and thar she be 69-72 r130/luce, I was confused on the newer luce and thought that they were also FWD but the 72 luce was the last production rotary powered FWD made.

there was also the 67-77 NSU Ro80

and the 74-77 Citroen GS Bi-Rotor

Where?

This?
http://www.kennedyeng.com/mazda.htm

That's for mating a 13B to a Porsche transaxle...which still mounts the engine longitudinally and not transversely as the majorty of FWD engines are mounted.

How the **** you stuff a longitutinally mounted engine mated to an originally RWD / rear mounted engine up front?

Don't waste your time if this is what you want to do.

MANY MANY have tried this, none have done it...yet.

I don't remember the exact reason but part of the engine it just a tad to big and interfers with a critical part of the frame or soemthing like that.

13B mated to a Subaru trans in FWD...
Interesting project...

Not.

The Subaru boxer engine has a low center of rotation.
This 13B does not.
Either the car is going to have a 4x4 stance just to give enough clearance for the motor, or the engine is going to end up digging into the ground.

Nice try...

The boxer engine has the crank right in the middle of the block just like the rotary and has the intake stacked on top.

Yes, the Subaru engines are high in the engine bay because of the above as well as their deep oil pan and they do have a long hood.

It was an example of

There are many other examples of factory production cars that used a longitudinal engine mounted ahead of a transaxle in front wheel drive format.

And several examples of 13bs in Subarus with engine adapter plates... no lift, no lower ground clearance.

The Russians make a knock off 13B that is fwd, iirc. They have a club with quite a large following. It's their version of the F&F crowd. There was a thread about them on this or one of the other rotary forums. Perhaps in the European sub-forum?
