Dont know if i should...

So i have decided on the motor for my Rx2. Keeping it old school.

12a PP with webbers.

I still have the original twin dizzy 12a in it. I cant decide if i should use this motor, or get a 79-85 12a. I really like the idea of using the original motor. But i would hate to ruin the rare motor. i mean, 6mm carbon seals, factory = awesome!

so what do the old schoolers here think? run the twin dizzy PP, or trade it for a newer 12a?

not street use...

The original idea was 12a PP street car. but it woul take years for it to be street worthy. so for now. it will be a track only car.

defintly would go to the later eng its better r.d lol.

pp is more of a weekend warrior but if it was fuel injected im sure it would be more tame on the street.

When done right, PP's are more streetable than BP. But im refering to the car being street worthy, not the motor.

Depending on the condition of the chrome, i would most likely upgrade the housings to 79+ for the better chrome. But if the 72 housings are in good condition like i think they will be. I would use them. But i have been told the chrome is very inferior and wears fast. But everything else in the motor is designed great for high RPM racing use.

Im leaning towards using the twin dizzy motor. would be all kinds of awesome...lol

So i'll be pulling the motor out tomorrow. so i really need to decide. Theres only one real downfall to using the old school 12a. Tranny options...

so i made the decision of going with the old school 12a... And im pretty set on doing a moderate sized PP, nothing to crazy. Im sticking with the twin dizzy for now also. Old school car with an old school set-up. Im not trying to set any records here. just have fun...

I have the motor out and stripped down. Before i tear it down, i want to make sure of a few things as far as rebuilding. Im going to re-use all the hard seals, springs, ect. (as long as they are good) and only replace water jackets and o-rings. So does anyone know if i can use the newer 12a/13b water jackets, or do these old motors use a different set of jackets?
