Looks nice.. now you're tempting me with the RX-3 hood too.

Really need the RX-2 one more at the moment. My hood is starting to split, one of these days it's going to just peel in half and fly off on the freeway so you'd better hurry. Heh

nah, I got some JB weld to try gluing it back together, but I'd much rather just get this CF hood.

The hood pealed off on my friend's '71 RX2. Be careful it does happen. His hood didn't fly away it just blocked his view of the road. His car was a sleeper so he just fixed it with two carrage bolts. Strong but not pretty.

Thanks, where would I find these? I got some industrial JB weld, figured that would be strong enough. Am I foolish to try using that?

JB Weld is a rigid epoxy, its not designed for auto body applications.

Check with your local body shops to see if you can borrow/rent a fusor applicator gun. The adhesives can be ordered here: http://www.refinishmaterials.com/ct_...ladhesives.htm

BTW sorry for the thread diversion

Thanks banzai. Yes, I apologize for the topic change, but it's somewhat related. I want one of these hoods so I don't have to bother with the adhesives. Heh

Darn forum didn't notify me of updates so I didn't know this thread had moved!

Glad to see this is generating some interest and we have at least a few guys willing to throw down to make this happen. Whatever happened to TeddyRX2... thought he wanted one pretty bad? Oh well...

^That might be a possiblity in the future but it could depend on if these RX2 hoods could even get off the ground. (Figure of speech of course)

Seriously though, there are WAYYYY more RX-2 owners around so if these don't get made then a RX-4 carbon hood might be a futile project... but you never know.

As of now the projected price is $450 but I will not have a definite answer until the mold is getting made. Absolutely nothing is getting made until I have at least 6 comitted buyers since there is no way I can possibly front the capitol to get this initial batch of hoods made.

If I get the word these will cost less to produce, then by all means I can pass the savings on to us first group of buyers that are making this possible. After that I'm sure the hoods will sell for slightly more as they will only be made "on demand" one at a time when ordered.

This is a boutique operation and they are very busy so to even get our work sheduled is a pretty difficult task. It is worth it non-the-less since they do excellent carbon/fiberglass work and are willing to produce small quantities.

Dang! I don't know why, but I'm not getting email notification form the forum to my email. Haven't checked the thread in a few days but glad I did before I hit the sack.

Teddy, glad you're on board for sure. You're the guy that made me want to get this all started in the 1st place mang!

Joe, glad to hear that the sedan is running. I'm a little bit envious since my project seems too big and time is hard to come by. Congratulations man!!!

This is the list as of tonight:

1- fchoncho (Vincent Lucketti, vlucketti@yahoo.com)
2- Rotaryfever (Larry Rosa, Katholiq@aol.com)
3- Smeagol (Mike Manitta, mmanitta@sbcglobal.net)
4- chiquirx7
5- Bernard (bernard@californiaclassix.com)
6- Teddy Blanco (talkca@aol.com)
7-
8-
9-
10-

I can have a hood in the molders possession in less than two weeks, maybe even less if I can get everyones funds together sooner. After that the turnaround time should be very quick. Actually less than a month if all goes well.

Everyone who is on the list please send me an email to vlucketti@yahoo.com and put "RX2 carbon hood" in the subject line so I can keep track of this much more efficiently. Please tell me your username on this forum too. I can get back to you all tomorrow with more info and we can charge full steam ahead. Thanks!
