can anyone identify this 808 grille?

Check this pic, sorry its large
http://www.fuzzypants.com/****/Spac3.jpg

Its the one on the top, with the round bits....

What is it from? Can anyone shed any light on it?

apparently it is definately the early Mazda 808 shape and he is certain its not the 10a rx3 shape. The guy who has it has seen a Mazda or 30... and never seen one of these, or anyone else for that matter.

Any ideas?

Mark

I'd wager it's for the piston car too, since it's got the round thingys and no rotor badge in the middle.

Sorry, I've never seen any of those styles of grills. The '73 rx3 I had and the '75 808 I have now all had the hex shaped holes in them.

That top one is rare. Have only seen it on the Jap-spec familia (808) in pictures.

Series-1 version too (71-73)

Would be worth a bit to a crazy collector here down under.

DMRH, **** is a Canberran as well - he pretty well bought it because he didn't know what it was...

Another suggestion was "Grand Familia", 71-73.

Found this photo of a Japan-spec 808 with the round type of grill. The car shown is a 1975 Grand Familia 1600AP. I have photos of the 74 and 76 cars but they have the square type of grill. Must have been unique to 1975. This car has a similar thermal reactor pollution control similar to the RX3.

McBeth is a great guy, I have been talking to him over emails for sometime now. I think it started when he sold that R100 of his on eBay.

There's also a later US model 808 that has a really different shaped grille, and rectangular headlights. I found one all shot to hell in the woods a couple of years ago. The only part that wasn't full of holes was the little relay box for the wipers, etc. I copped it as it was the same as on my RX4.
