Correct John. Glenn's 110S is one of a handful that were legally imported into the US, and was originally owned by Curtis Wright. Pam and Paul obtained their "Jspec" Cosmo while living in Japan in the late 1980s while Pam was working for a large multinational organization as a translator.
VitaA1 - Not sure if Glenn has any "show" plans for his 110S in the near future. He is continuing to work on improving small imperfections, but basically the car is pretty pristine in it's current condition. He's told me that he'll probably do a complete restoration of the car in the future, but not until Pam and Paul's restoration is completed and out the door. I can't believe what a coup it is to have a nearly perfect example of what you're restoring sitting right next to your project car.
rotarydude - You're correct that Mazda still supports the car in Japan, but not from a parts standpoint (from what I understand). A large enthusiast group exists for the sole purpose of networking and sharing parts and part solutions to keep these cars running. Many have upgraded to 12a's or 13b's to keep them on the road due to the limited number of 10a parts still available.

Great thread, great car! I have only seen two Cosmos... both at the Ford Centennial Celebration back in 2003. One was in the Mazda tent, the other was brought out for display by a guy from WA who pulled it behind a motorhome I believe. Sweet cars! I hate to ask, but this resto must be costing you a pretty penny....
wow.
nice cosmos, both of them!
so wonderful to see proper restorations.
I've got an FD, I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a shitty 110, I'd throw in my 10AE on top for a nice one!

Back from the Stripper!
Back from the stripper. Found a little more rust than had hoped for, but still very repairable. Area beneath the door rocker panels needs a lot of work. Here's a few pics of her coming back. Enjoy!
Pic 1 of 3!!

We've got a multi-page photo feature on Jay Leno's Cosmo coming out in the next issue of MazdaSport Magazine - it's at the printer now - should be of interest to Cosmo fans!

Everyone,
Sorry for being silent for so long. Glenn has sent me some pics recently that I'll be posting within the week. The process is S-L-O-W, but Glenn is such a craftsman that the end result will be unbelieveable. Stay tuned.

The silence has ended. Quite a few pics coming and most are larger than 100KB each, so I'll see how many I can load at a time.
The restoration car is now on the rotissiere to clean up any rust and weld in fresh metal. Anyone care for a little Cosmo on the Barbie??

One more pic of Glenn's repair to the lower rear passenger side quarter panel. Following that pic is a shot of the rebuilt 10A motor from Ricardo Porta which arrived last Tuesday. Probably the cleanest 10A motor in the world!!
For kicks, Glenn sent me a pics of Ricardo's restored Cosmo 10A 0810 series motor, next to a second series 10A 0820 series, R100 type motor that he recently purchased (with zero miles). Holy crap, can it get any better than that!!!!

What are the chances of this!
Lookie what showed up at his shop last Wednesday. Yep, that's ANOTHER Cosmo Sport, this one arriving from Canada for a little repair. WOW, 3 Cosmo Sports in the same place (and outside of Japan). There's almost enough cars here to start a Cosmo Sport Club of Arizona

Yes, hoping to get the club over the Glenn's place in the next week or so to see all three at once.

Just as a side note, check out the July issue of Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car magazine. They have an intersting article about Glenn's immaculate Mazda R360 and the story behind it's restoration. Interesting reading and some good insight into passion and painstaking level of detail that Glenn puts into his restorations. Pick it up!!

Is that the Cosmo from Mazda Canada headquarters? The one that was damaged in transport?
I heard about how it happened, wonder if the truck driver kept his job or not lol.
Hopefully you can fix it up good as new! It was at last year Meeting of the Mazda's here in Canada and it looked very nice!

She's GONE :(
Well everyone,
Hate to see her leave Phoenix, but Glenn Robert's 1967 Cosmo Sport 110S (the Curtis Wright car) was sold today to Mazda North America (MNA). Mazda is purchasing select historically significant rotary cars as part of this year's 40th Anniversary Celebration of Mazda Rotary Production.
I travelled up to Glenn and Valerie's home to witness the departure. We were met by Jeremy Barnes from MNA and Aaron Robinson from Car and Driver Magazine. The two had commuted over from Los Angeles in an RX-8 to 'drive' the 110S back to LA. With temps forecasted for 107F Glen and I were a little concerned about them driving such a historically significant piece for 7 hours straight through the desert heat without a trailer or some other type of support vehicle, but the two assured us that they would be fine.
Well, this evening Glenn called to tell me that Jeremy contacted him and said they had made it to LA without a hitch. In fact, he said the car ran GREAT and performed flawlessly the entire way. Glad to get the news. Watch for Aaron Robinson's article about their adventure in the July issue of Car and Driver magazine!!

More pics from today's historic handoff!
A few more shots of her hitting the road enroute to her new home at MNA.
