Been over 10 years since my last post!

Hello all. I hope your doritos are spinning well.
I just thought I would pop by and say hi.sI used to post in the second gen subforum as I had an 87. I was 20ish and knew **** about how to work on cars and had no tools. lol.
Now in my 30's with a house with a garage and tools I bought an RX8 to play with as an extra car. Ive been using the RX8 club and just though I'd swing over hear to say hi everyone!

The car is up on jack stands right now. Needs rocker panels. I have a full body kit and fender flares on order. I also have the D585 conversion kit ordered. It's going to be tight!

I hope all your projects are going well.

Surr thing!

Being delivered from the RV dealership where it sat for over a 18 months.

Right after it came down off the flatbed I washed it.

Changed the oil, transmission oil, differential oil, and new battery. But I found a flashing check engine light that lead me to find a misfire from bad coil packs. I'll fush the radiator after my D585 coil pack conversation kit comes in the mail. (Supposed to be tomorrow )

Cut open the rocker with an angled gringer. I live in Canada so there's road salt.

I used wire wheel to clean out almost all the rust. Then a spray on rust converter. 3 coats of primer and 2 of top coat with the clear mixed in.

Im just going to cut this out. I have fender flares and a body kit on order.

Welcome back!!! How's the progress on the 8 going? Seems that it's common for the rockers and rear wheel arches to rust like that unfortunately. Looks like you are doing a great job of getting it patched up. Where are you getting your patch panels?

I just googled RX8 rocker sleeve and used the first .ca website. They were 100 bucks for the pair and although they were the right size length wise and had the right notch for the door and what not they weren't even close on the width and come no where near close enough to attach to the pinch weld.
I banged out a template of the profile and took it with one of the rocker sleeves to a local fab shop so they could remake them with the right profile.

In other news my order from Andys auto sport came in.

I cant wate to actually attach these. But I'll need to enlarge the mounting areas they are too small for my beauty washers.

im thinking of wrapping the car white i got the duraflex vader body kit. it looks to be in good shape just 1 little crack to fill but i have fiberglass bondo filler to fill it, a dremmel to grind out any excess filler and a heat gun if i need some light pre-suasion

So i putvthe flares on and that was relatively straight forward. I also needed new tires and someone on marketplace was selling Black painted RX8 rims with 1 year old tires. So I snatched them up.

5th time trying to post an update!

It's been over a year since I've last updated you all on my car. I put it away last fall a week or two early because I got a cel for a cloged cat. This year I was going to put a big old winger dinger on it and a vinyl wrap but the wing money went to a midpipe from racing beat and the vinyl money was used for a new front door on my house. #adulting

So out with the old.

And in with the new!

I also picked up an expansion tank, silicon hoses, and some fender gasket.

its also realy common to break this part of the radiator when doing hoses or expansion tank.

So more parts!

Well i upgraded to an aluminium rad.

Whell I was there i did a fan as whell.

you have to take the bumper and belly pan off because the rad goes in from the bottom.

Now finally the car would randomly shut off. Craked negative terminal. so when changing that i did the "big 3"

0 gauge wire i crimped up to go from battery to alt.

More parts!

This is my big job for this year. In this Pic I have agency power front links and whiteline rear links. I wanted agency power for the rear but they are discontinued and getting the fronts were hard enough. The sway bars are racing beat. Everything else is mega racing. That would be coilovers, tie rods, and all 5 rear arms..The toe arms are not included in the Pic because they were not shipped by accident. I got them two days later after a few emails with coilover depot.com they were very apologetic! They sent them out the next day basically no questions asked!

I am considering getting the adjustable upper A arms.

So I did have to take it into a shop. I got 4 out of the 5 pairs of rear arms done. But I couldn't get the toe arms out. I got the cam nut off both cam bolts but couldn't get them to budge. I snapped the bolt head in the driver's side knuckle also. But I did everything else on my own so I'm proud and happy!
