86 BMW 325 ES rotary conversion

I dont know much about these cars but how is the handling, upgrades, locating/swapping parts from different year BMWs and such. there are plenty of BMWs in Socal junkyards.

Its just in the planning stage but it kinda leaning over a smog legal TII conversion since I have a complete S4TII harness (entire car) and motors just need to be assembled. Yeah, smog legal so I dont have to deal with the BS.

I would love to get a hold a 72-75 mercury capri but it is heavier or could be as heavy as a RX-4 .

thanks

orig owner, orig paint, kamei or kamenari body kit, rims, appox 300K miles but still runs. with my taste, I will say its an 8 (10 being the highest). The owner just wants $500.

I had an '86 E30. Nice car, easy to work on and handled great. It had the 4 cylinder engine (1.8l). 165 hp, smog legal would be terrific. Weight should come in around 2600-2700 lbs, similar to an S4.

thanks for the info. Went for final last inspection this morning but I backed out. If I do the transplant, I will be insulting or disrespecting another enthusiast like me. So I left it for the birds

lol no way! think of the BMW like an FC but worse. besides the E engine needs a different cylinder head/ecu/wiring/intake to even make 130rwhp. the BMW guys put later engines in, but its a TON of work, and its $$$$$$

the 13B would drop a TON of weight too, the BMW engine is just ballast, and the rest of the car is just tin with leather glued to it. the spec E30 cars, which are stock with a cage come in @like 2500lbs

there are TONS of suspension parts, most of it is useless ricer crap, but you can make these handle really well.

brakes are easy, you get a vw corrado rotor and T2 calipers!

actually the one you might like better is the 80's 5 series, its like a big 510... and all the later 7 series stuff bolts on (cause they didn't change anything from 1977 to 2003)
